You make a valid point. The market is still open. Give it 1-2 months and certain teams might start feeling getting boxed out and getting desperate, or maybe after a couple of 'big' trades and are willing to splash to capitalize on hype because they're "one piece" away. Still very funny to see how the agent has been drumming up the Winter Meetings and so confident to pull that 5 year 20AAV contract for Edwin and he can't even get 3 years.

Yeah man, no kidding! Same here dude, work all year round and school during the school season gives me much less time than my old 50K days to do much of anything hahaha. Glad to see you still around and doing well!

Actually Edwin could have had US for 4/$80. It would suck to see him make less money than here and playing somewhere else on top of that. For him and Bautista I was hoping that if they don't come back they get paid very well

But then again for me, I didn't expect them to offer a good/fair value contract to Edwin... which they did (and according to reports no one is willing to go 1 less year/same AAV as our offer so we technically had the best offer for him) Who knows! This FO is exciting because I have no idea what direction they're going. Not like the AA tenure where if the player was going to command anywhere near 5 years we'd rule out

You could be right, I think coming back with a chip on his shoulder will be something to help motivate him and he's always been elite. Imagine if he gets (like edwin) more games off the field than on the field? I think he can really zone in and have a monster year next year. I wouldn't want to backload because of that 2019 FA class, I'd rather spend more now and frontload it. Also forgot, we need to extend Donaldson, unless FO is keen on just dealing him

Thanks! Man, Fowler is seeking $18AAV (we apperently offered $15AAV), Edwin looks to be around $20AAV, and Bautista looks to be around $16AAV. Adding Fowler only: $131M payroll Adding Edwin only: $133M payroll Adding Bautista only: $129M payroll Adding Fowler + Edwin: $151M Adding Fowler + Bautista: $147M Adding Bautista + Edwin: $149M With our payroll being $138M, even with an increase we're only looking at one of those 3 players then correct? Realistically speaking, of course

I think a healthy Bautista on a multiyear deal (no pressure in trying to impress to get a contract) puts up a better OBP and SLG than Fowler at least for next season. The problem is that it ends there. Negative value on the bases and in the field, that's why I'd love him at DH. Fowler's got great speed and a great glove to go with a great bat. Does anyone know how much our payroll has went up to as of the last few signings? I wonder how much we have left to spend, I hope that we can add 2 of Bautista/Edwin/Fowler, but I think that's a long shot now. Good thing Morales and Pearce only cost us $17M

That reminds me of a few years ago with Stephen Drew and Boras where Boras said no to every deal he believed was low and the guy didn't even sign until after opening day. Made Drew decline the $14M QO from Boston then sign with Boston for $10M on a one year deal after April lmfao

Apparently I just read that no team is willing to give Edwin 3/$60M and that his agent is in "wait and see" mode. Sucks for them that they declined the 4/$80M offer, and its funny how lots of people on here were yelling that we were penny pinching and boston/others will offer $100M+ for him. Also apparently his agent is in shock on how fast we moved on and in the span of like 2 weeks we signed two 1B ready players lmao

The fan in me says "yes f***ing do this", he'll retire a Blue Jay. I think he'll have a better season than last year, just hope he DHs, Morales at 1st and Pearce in left or something. I think he'll play up to/better than the $16M next season but the 2 seasons after...
