Jays: Buehrle is looking to win his seventh straight decision, a personal streak currently second to his nine-game run from April 16-June 28, 2005. He became baseball's first 10-game winner Sunday, limiting Kansas City to six hits over eight innings in a 4-0 victory. The Blue Jays improved their major league-leading home run total to 89 as Jose Bautista and Brett Lawrie went deep. Bautista's 15th of the season extended his hitting streak to 12 games, during which he's 19 of 44 with 12 RBIs, while Lawrie's was his third in four games. Toronto has hit 39 homers during its 20-4 stretch. Averaging 1.44 home runs, the Blue Jays' pace trails only the 2010 and 2000 clubs, which finished with 257 and 244 homers, respectively. Cardinals: Miller cruised through the first six innings Monday against Kansas City - conceding only two singles - before Alex Gordon's homer marked the first of four straight hits against him to open up the seventh. He finished the inning but was charged with four runs. The Cardinals, who have lost eight of 10, haven't been below .500 since a 19-20 record after May 12. A loss Saturday would mark the first time they've been below the .500 mark this late in a season since finishing 78-84 in 2007. The Cards' pitching staff has done well in trying to limit the long ball, having surrendered the third-lowest total of homers (19) in the Major Leagues. http://i.imgur.com/3m5mHFb.png Pitching Matchup: http://i.imgur.com/FDy1ObG.png SP - Marcus Stroman (12.1 IP, 1 BB, 7.30 K/9, 0.73 BB/9, .327 BAA, .386 BABIP, 2.99 FIP) [R] http://i.imgur.com/p1EoU1S.png SP - Lance Lynn (72.1 IP, 27 BB, 7.84 K/9, 3.36 BB/9, .250 BAA, .308 BABIP, 3.29 FIP) [R] http://i.imgur.com/hY7nUxZ.png Lineups: http://i.imgur.com/Xlp47Lr.png Make your picks for the first homer contest hosted by Dylan! Jays: Stroman will make his second major league start after winning his first with an impressive effort. He gave up one run over six innings and struck out six in a 12-2 victory over the Royals on Saturday. Encarnacion is hitting .362 with 11 homers and 20 RBIs in his last 16 games. Bautista is batting .450 with 11 RBIs during his hit streak, and Adam Lind is hitting .406 with seven RBIs and 11 runs in his last nine contests. That trio is a big reason the Blue Jays are hitting .299 with 28 homers in their past 16 games while averaging 6.0 runs. They've scored 7.0 per game with 15 home runs in seven interleague matchups. Toronto, which leads the Majors with 87 home runs this season, will be taking on a St. Louis club that ranks second-to-last in the Majors with 32. The Blue Jays have five batters with 10 or more homers. Cardinals: Lynn gave up a season-high seven runs - four earned - along with eight hits and four walks in 3.1 innings of Sunday's 8-0 loss to San Francisco. The right-hander was 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA in his previous three outings and tossed a five-hit shutout against the New York Yankees on May 27. When third baseman Matt Carpenter's 14-game hitting streak reached an end Monday, he didn't wait long to start a new one. Carpenter went 7-for-7 in his next seven at-bats while drawing three walks to reach base in his next 10 plate appearances. He has collected hits in 17 of 18 games since May 18, hitting .419 (31/74) with nine doubles during that span. Carpenter, who hit .315 last season, has seen his batting average rise 50 points to .306 during the last 18 games as well. The Cards have lost seven of nine, getting outscored 49-29. They blew a two-run lead to Kansas City for the second time in three games Thursday, losing 3-2. http://i.imgur.com/Gid80PR.png Pitching Matchup: http://i.imgur.com/1zSz18j.png SP - J.A. Happ (37.1 IP, 19 BB, 7.96 K/9, 4.58 BB/9, .264 BAA, .296 BABIP, 5.26 FIP) [L] http://i.imgur.com/aoRKpa1.png http://i.imgur.com/ox61xX1.png SP - Justin Verlander (79.0 IP, 31 BB, 6.49 K/9, 3.53 BB/9, .264 BAA, .312 BABIP, 3.49 FIP) [R] http://i.imgur.com/Rym3A2P.png Lineups: http://i.imgur.com/co4nEy0.png Make your picks for the first homer contest hosted by Dylan! Jays: Happ was charged with a season-high six runs and nine hits in 7 2-3 innings Friday in a 6-1 defeat to Kansas City. The left-hander has given up at least four runs in three of his six starts this season. He's yielded a total of one run in his other three. The Blue Jays, winners in 18 of 22 and 10 of 11 on the road, are batting .301 over a 13-2 stretch with 25 homers and 89 runs. Bautista is batting .457 with 11 RBIs during a 10-game hitting streak. After struggling in recent visits to Detroit, the red-hot Toronto Blue Jays are on the verge of their first sweep there in 11 years. They had dropped six of seven at Comerica Park heading into their only trip there this season. Tigers: Verlander has a 1.32 ERA in his last five starts against the Blue Jays and pitched seven scoreless innings in his only matchup last season, an 11-1 win in Toronto on July 4. The right-hander appeared to get closer to regaining that dominant form in Friday's 6-3 win in Seattle. He gave up three runs and five hits while striking out seven over 7 2-3 innings. He was 1-2 with an 8.31 ERA and seven strikeouts in his prior three starts. Detroit is trying to avoid its first five-game losing streak since April 22-27, 2012, and its first home sweep to Toronto since Sept. 16-18, 2003. The Tigers are 2-8 in Detroit since May 8, and have lost 12 of 16 overall. Their pitchers have a 6.01 ERA in the past 16 games. Detroit went 1 for 8 with runners in scoring position while leaving 11 on base Wednesday. The Tigers are 2/19 (.105) with runners in scoring position in the past four games. We were playing our asses off that game, didn't we nab a runner or two at the plate? I remember there being a run down at 1st and 2nd with a runner going to 3rd, then the runner broke home and we nabbed him at the plate. I also remember we brought in Jose for a 5 man infield. Also wasn't it Escobar going to third that was called out on the "interference"? Very bad memories ugh it was like 1am

Jays: Dickey gave up five runs and 10 hits in five-plus innings Thursday in an 8-6 loss in 10 innings to Kansas City. Dickey was 4-1 with a 2.52 ERA in his prior six outing After a truly powerful performance in May, Edwin Encarnacion was named the AL Player of the Month. Encarnacion led the league in home runs (16), slugging percentage (.763) and extra-base hits (22). He was also tied for the lead in runs (26) while ranking second in RBIs (33). It's the first career monthly award for Encarnacion, and the first for a Toronto player since Jose Bautista in June 2012. After producing 104 runs during a 16-4 stretch, Toronto was held scoreless for the first eight innings Tuesday at Comerica Park. The Blue Jays, batting .305 in their last nine contests, had just two hits before getting three during a five-run ninth inning in a 5-3 victory. Tigers: Porcello will take the ball for the struggling Tigers, losers of three straight overall and seven of nine at home. Porcello had a better outing Thursday in Oakland than in a 12-2 drubbing to Texas on May 24 but walked a career-high six in a 5-4 victory. He gave up two runs over 5 2-3 innings after getting tagged for eight runs and 12 hits in his 5 1-3 innings against the Rangers. Detroit closer Joe Nathan was charged with a season-high four runs in a non-save situation, raising his ERA to 6.86. Tigers shortstop Danny Worth made headlines in the series against the Rangers by pitching an inning while throwing knuckleballs during a blowout -- and striking out two batters. He also pitched another inning during the series, also in a blowout, but didn't fare as well, allowing a run on three hits -- and throwing one knuckleball behind the back of Texas batter Donnie Murphy.
