  1. Personally, I'll still have hope. Which will probably die in the Angel series lol. I'm still holding out for a 2015 like comeback, only way to win the division lol
  2. Man our team has been horrendous. What an epic collapse. My goodness I'm speechless. Pitchers can't make it into the 6th, batters going down 1-2-3. Unless we're somehow going to sweep the last 3 series of the year or something I think after today we need to look at wildcard only. Even if Boston loses.
  3. Man lol game of inches that ball didn't want to roll foul lol
  4. ......... Not sure if you can read properly or not. I clearly said sacrificing is bad. Literally bolded it and put it in big text for you. All I'm saying put context in the situation. This is all in reference to a site you used to back up your point, which takes all the runs scored by teams in situations across a 5 year period, acting as if situations for each team are the same. And for the record my stance on the bunt, once again, isn't praising, all I'm saying is that didn't look like a sacrifice attempt. You can get on base with a bunt single if placed well enough and it was, Cobb made a good play on the ball and it was bang bang at first.
  5. Oh. My. God. How about you read my whole post??? Do I want a sacrifice? No. Did Saunders have intentions of sacrificing? Doesn't look like it, you don't push a bunt to move a runner over you square early to ensure you make contact. I DON'T want a sacrifice, but it happened. So what. -.013 WPA wouldn't have turned the tide from a 1 run to a 10 run inning. Play the percentages, lets do that. Saunders gets on 34% of the time in ALL Situations (I'm forgoing the splits here) so he gets out. Lets say Travis stays stationary, doesn't move. You have Edwin sac fly Travis to 3rd, Bautista walks and Tulo flies out to end the inning. 0-0. Lets say Saunders out moves travis over then you have a replay of last inning. There you go. Obviously there's that 34% but like I said the WPA went down 1%. Stop acting like it cost us 10 runs, Saunders has been useless.
  6. I don't know why you're mentioning EE and Bautista as if a bunt causes 3 outs. What you're talking about is the result, not sure if you watched the game but that wasn't the intention of the action. The action was to put the ball in play against the shift for a base knock, the result was a sacrifice but it's not like Saunders squared early to move a runner over. And I posted the stats earlier. His numbers are BAD the second half, and bad overall with runners on base this year. He's setting it up for Edwin to bring the runner in. Eddy with runners in scoring position this year has a 41.8 FlyBall%, 15.2% of those fly balls result in homers. Overall he has a 42.6 FB% with 21.9% of those being homers. So it's close to half the times in that situation he'll hit a flyball. Whether or not it results in a homer (or a hit -- his average on fly balls is .306) the highest chance of outcome is a flyout. Best case on his fly ball he hits a homer doesn't matter if Travis is on 2nd or 3rd 2 runs score instead of 3, but worst case he flies out? Travis scores from third vs. him moving up to 3rd with two outs. Yes I know that Saunders could get on but he has a 28.6% chance of going on base to score on an edwin hit that occurs is 30% but scoring at least one on a sac fly is closer to 42%. Now you add context. Team is struggling badly, and we're playing against the Rays who have absolutely owned us. Do I want a sacrifice? No. Did Saunders have intentions of sacrificing? Doesn't look like it, you don't push a bunt to move a runner over you square early to ensure you make contact. But even then the % aren't as bad as people make it seem. Even our WPA dropped by only 1% you guys are making it seem like we gave up a 10 run inning
  7. That's not his point, his point is that regardless if the bunt happened or not the there's a 61% chance to score when Saunders was up
  8. This is just an aside -- you think all teams share the same probability? So that 61% you threw out is the same whether if we're talking Twins or Red Sox in that situation? There needs to be context added to numbers
  9. Seriously. He didn't even square early he just dropped it and ran. He bunted it away from the shift
  10. Not the other two. Saunders has been dogshit with runners on. I don't know why this is a talking point, this season he's owned a .636 OPS with runners in scoring position a beautiful wRC+ of 64. 2nd half in general? .673 OPS and 75 wRC+. No problems with this right now given the situation, especially since they were shifting against him and he dropped it against that shift with the intention of getting on
  11. He dropped a good bunt against the shift and almost beat it out, I like those odds too
  12. Hey don't knock that, Saunders has been steamy pile of dogshit. OPSing below 700 in the second half and with runners in scoring overall, he bunted against the shift to get on too it wasn't purely sacrifice
  13. Yeah almost beat it out too come on Tulo!!! Gap shot pls
  14. well he moved him over so that's something come on Eddy!
  15. 2017 MLB Schedule is out (bit early no?) We're opening the season April 3rd in Baltimore for 2 then head for the Trop (yay) for 4 before having our home opener on the 11th against the BREWERS... http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=tor#y=2017&m=4&calendar=DEFAULT
  16. Why DL him just don't use him like the past 3 days
  17. You cut off the previous sentence, "I'd be surprised.." I'm taking a guess. Donaldson's a warrior, if he's getting kept out for 3 days something's wrong here dude's knee got smashed and hit 3 homers in the same game. He's not responding to treatment and he needs an MRI, I mean it doesn't take a doctor to think that something's more than just day-to-day
  18. That's it? People were concluding his season. However I'd be surprised if he doesn't land on the 'DL' (aka he'll remain on the roster but not used for x amount of days). Probably won't see him until the post-season if we make it there
