  1. Robert CF Bo SS Vlad 1B Bellinger RF Eloy DH Springer LF Moncada 3B Kirk / Jansen C Biggio 2B I'd give the Chisox Tiedemann, Varsho, ++ to see this lineup in action
  2. I'm on board
  3. Winker to a MiLB and invite to spring training, sure Or maybe not, given that he is a Grade A prick
  4. Defer $100M and it's good
  5. Shatkins has come through every offseason. Also, it's December.
  6. Bellinger played hurt during May and June 2023, with a .179 BABIP His 2020 through 2022 BABIPS were .245, .196, .255 2023 the BABIP was up to .319 The result of a change in approach? The result of improved health? Probably a mix of both. There was an article posted here some time ago, the writer suggested Bellinger's struggles were due to swing changes to accommodate his health/physical condition. In 2023 he may have found a swing/approach that works. Going forward it is not unreasonable to anticipate a WAR floor/ceiling of 2 and 4, with the 2020 to 2022 seasons being health related career anomalies.
  7. Well, based on his FA signing record, yes, yes I do.
  8. So simply a value proposition. At the end of the day, I trust Shatkins to make that evaluation.
  9. So you've gone from "no" to there are better options. Progress. Teoscar is a butcher on the field.
  10. BTS has extreme bias against his former heartthrob Bellinger
  11. Yes to some extent, but Jays are primarily interested in the LH bat. Bellinger could probably play a very good 3B. He handled 1B very well, and has a very good arm. Won't happen though

Leafs 1 point from 3rd place in Eastern Conference, with 2 games in hand.
  13. No, Springer LF, Varsho CF, Bellinger RF. As far as CF goes, Kiermaier > Varsho > Bellinger.
  14. Largest risk/reward of any free agent. Worth the gamble for the Jays more than perhaps any other team, given the team situation. In other words, if Bellinger delivers a "good" year, the Jays are in the post season with a good chance to reach the WS while they still have Bo/Vlad.
  15. Premium on Yamamoto is going to be quite high. If Jays are signing a pitcher, I would rather pay the lower premium needed to get a guy like Jordan Montgomery, who could very well be as effective or more than Yama
  16. Reported for no baseball content
  17. Maybe but some bias creeps into these evaluations. When a farm is weak, the fringe guys get more attention. A strong farm, Longo and the rest pay little attention to the fringe guys.
  18. Yes i thought of that, depends on the jurisdiction. There may or may not be advantages to spreading the income out.
  19. It's kind of like an RRSP. Ohtani is earning a lot of $$ in endorsements, which will diminish as his playing days wind down. Then he starts getting deferred payments. Spread the taxable income out.
  20. Well Ohtani's hobbies are sleeping 10 hrs a day and playing video games. He'll be fine with this deal.
  21. If he is signed by the time the draft starts then yes
  22. deferred money does count, but is reduced to present value. we've been over this
