  1. You and Connor should compare notes
  2. 3 have made allegations. The details of when each relationship started, and even if there was one, and how old Franco was when it started, are unknown to us. But again, when the age difference is 3-4 years usually nothing happens, DR, Canada, or USA. If Franco was 21 and started a sexual relationship with a 14 yr old, that's a whole different matter.
  3. Franco has never been suspended. It was a voluntary leave. The accusation that Franco is a pedo is suspect. There have been reports that Franco was a minor when the relationships started, and the relationships continued after he became an adult and they were still minors. The age separation is apparently 3-4 years. Such cases are generally not reported, nor pursued. I expect nothing would have happened, if Franco was not a highly paid MLB player. I don't see this as a pedophile case. Franco is not 30 years old and preying on minors.
  4. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/32119416/will-trevor-bauer-ever-pitch-again-next-los-angeles-dodgers-mlb The above link refers to a phone call taped by police where there is apparently an admission of activity contrary to MLB policy. I expect the entire call, and all other information, was available to the independent arbitrator. I don't think the latest allegations, from this past June, have been posted. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2023/06/13/trevor-bauer-new-sexual-assault-allegation-arizona/70319689007/ Bauer now has a history of allegations by 4 separate women, all of which are of a similar vein: violence against women. Not hard to see why he might never pitch in MLB again. Because (1) it is likely that other women will come forward, and (2) Bauer is likely to continue the behaviour.
  5. Learn something useless everyday.
  6. The two cases could not be more different. For one, Bauer admitted to the activity, which apparently violates MLB's code of conduct, and this was confirmed by an independent arbitrator. For Franco, there are non-incriminating pictures and allegations. He has made no admissions. Since Bauer admitted to the activity, criminality hinged on the question of consent. In the Franco case, there is a question as to whether the alleged activity occurred at all. Unless MLB has some evidence, it is difficult to see how a lengthy suspension is justified. They may be able to justify a suspension, and manage their liability risk, by using the fact of settlements (which will be confidential) as evidence of something inappropriate. The duration of the suspension is anyone's guess. It has been suggested that Franco started the relationships when he was a minor, which if true, would certainly complicate things. I'm so confident in the eventual outcome that yesterday I made an offer of Bichette for Franco+.
  7. How do the mods know what is legit and what is not?
  8. I expect Franco stayed in the USA until there were settlements and there was no threat of being arrested. Based on the date of and wording in the article, Franco flew to DR several days ago. Probably, to sign the settlements. The settlements would likely not include any admission of guilt, and the usual NDA. With there being an amicable settlement between the parties, where this would leave MLB, not sure. I cannot see a long suspension. He'll be back in plenty of time before the dynasty playoffs.
  9. Some movement on the Wander Franco matter. https://sports.yahoo.com/wander-franco-returned-dominican-republic-211800913.html
  10. So as of now Chris Archer has delivered Isaac Paredes, Shane Baz, Ryan Pepiot, and Jonny Deluca to the Rays.
  11. It's not the Blue Jays making the linkage, but hyperactive media, twits on twitter, and TwistedLogic. All in an effort to be the first with the "scoop".
  12. He'll apparently be back just in time for his 40th birthday. I have my doubts.
  13. If they get Yama, the rotation shapes up as: Glasnow Yamamoto Buehler Miller Sheehan I dunno about Kershaw.
  14. Why is no one talking about 2x Cy guy Snell?
  15. False. Projections for both are very similar.
  16. The Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Yankees rivalry goes way way back.
  17. Prefer Turner over JDM. Similar bat, Turner can still play in the field. Played games at 1B, 2B, and 3B in 2023. The real kicker is JDM had a 31% K rate in 2023. Turner's was 18.6%. Turner much less likely to fall off the cliff.
  18. The poor Angels. Trout signed that megadeal prior to the 2019 season. He played close to a full season in 2019, has averaged half a season of games since (COVID a minor part of this). Anthony Rendon signs for 7 years @ $35M per. Has barely played since. Doesn't help that they promoted Adell too quickly and get nothing but a pick after the 2nd round for Ohtani.
  19. That's misrepresentation of what was posted. Read it again.
  20. Actually that's not Manoah's wedding garb. Another pick on Twitter shows his chic wedding tux.
  21. Romano actually looks sane in that pic
  22. Take minor league d numbers with a grain of salt. If the Jays are high on Roden, and they are, that's good enough for me.
