  1. if tulo plays injury free at SS its almost guaranteed his WAR is higher than both going forward. that doesnt justify keeping tulo at $19M a year or whatever it is rather than have Goins and Travis do both 2B and SS for $17M less.
  2. it's very unlikely an aging tulo will replace bautista and ee's bat, which is what you are implying
  3. thats perfect, Jays game, dinner, then van morrison at 8 pm at the sony centre
  4. i'd like to see travis stay healthy for 4 months minimum before considering a tulo move. if that happens moving tulo for a couple of prospects and the salary room is a no brainer
  5. Fun Fact - 2009 Executive of the Year - Ruben Amaro Jr!!!
  6. Fills out lineup card - Check Eats sunflower seeds - Check Sits/stands at end of dugout - Check Yells at umps - Check Gibby wins!
  7. virtually any other CF'er and there is no collision. pillar is a reckless hothead. Boxy and Ang agree.
  8. so obviously she's not feeling it
  9. no, he's uglier than that
  10. that might be the play. then the SP can be a bunch of back of the rotation guys and jays still win 90+
  11. Amaro put together one of the best teams ever, he probably already has 5 GM offers
  12. dont yet know what stroman will bring... which is the whole point of giving him some starts down the stretch
  13. IMO Jays don't really have any option but to put Stroman in the starting rotation and cross fingers. Without Stroman the playoff rotation is Price and 3 borderline guys.
  14. the way you worded it placed far more value on wRC than is warranted. write and do what you want, this is a discussion board, and anyone is free to pushback on overreliance on stats
  15. Not at all... exposing the limitations of stat measures is important
  16. you should be happy CC is returning
  17. as far as burly goes, i have more faith in him as the 2nd lefty out of the pen than any of the other options he might even ramp up the velo a few notches knowing he's got at most 3 batters to deal with
  18. tulo's demeanour is similar to roy halladay's..... 'nuff said
  19. as a measure of past relative offensive value, yes
  20. yes. i'd sell high on JD long before selling low on Tulo this offseason (altho 'selling low' may not apply to someone with Tulo's history)
  21. the basic limitation of any empirical stat such as wRC is it approximates the influence of all of the inputs (through fractional coefficients, linear weights, etc). empirical stats by definition are approximations (ie. not 100% accurate) BTS could have said the player is "50 +/- ?% better offensively than the league average hitter" with ? being the 2 standard deviations error of the approximation (2 SD is typically used)
