  1. Dodgers pay earned deferrals into escrow each year so the year to year rate which fluctuates is what is at play
  2. ok i can see a slight advantage, and i say slight because without deferrals, nothing really changes in MLB
  3. Short term fluctuations mean nothing to a long term investment. Having said that, my own opinion is increasing disruptions from climate change over the duration of the Ohtani deal will cause inflationary pressure = higher interest rates.
  4. Its still just a financial capacity disparity. Nothing to do with deferrals. The Pirates were in on Okamoto, apparently. If he had in fact signed with them, it would be in the Pirates interest to defer some of the salary.
  5. That's why I said "roughly"
  6. The Dodgers will pay roughly 470 million. The rest of the 700 million will be paid by interest earned on investments.
  7. Damn, WTF is going on in the evil empire? Just went through BA's list. Yankees are not listed against ANY of the top 50 internationals.
  8. Sure, through tough negotiations. Really, the larger tension may between the owners, not between the owners and players. How many MLB owners out there are pissed off at the Dodgers (and a little less so, the Jays)?
  9. Last thing MLB wants is bankrupt franchises. If there is a floor it will start at not much more than the lowest current player payroll and slowly escalate annually. And in return for a floor, the players would have to agree to a harder soft cap.
  10. Yes and with reps Barger should turn into an above average RF with that arm. The only defensive weakness is Santander, but he should handle LF just fine.
  11. My gut says the Jays moved on from Bo before FA even started.
  12. vs. RHP Giminez wRC+ 2025: 80, Career: 100 Clement 2025: 75, Career 82 vs. LHP the numbers reverse, basically a pretty ideal platoon, giving league average hitting and above average defense at SS. Top 10-15 overall numbers for the position. Clement will still get his reps vs. RHP as a 2B
  13. Read some posts in here saying Okamoto is weak defensively. BA writeup says his 3B defense is above average. He's likely the primary 3B, with the flexibility to play 1b and of. Every lineup will be different in the 2026 version of the Jays.
  14. Giminez is league average with the bat against RHP, quite below average against LHP. With this roster I see a SS platoon
  15. Santander has value if cash is involved Anyway, the d'backs want mlb pitching back in a marte deal so neither of our suggestions work
  16. Lol come on Spanky don't be so sensitive
  17. Santander, Barger, cash, and prospects swap Yesavage isn't going anywhere lol
  18. Nah, he hasn't been traded cuz its early Jan. Toronto has the pieces for a deal now.
  19. Who said anything about a kings ransom? He's a good teammate, his issues have been with the media.
  20. Damn that's a nice price and term. He's 29, takes him to age 33
  21. If it happens will be before the Okamoto signing is official. Deadline is 5 pm Sunday
  22. Jays have been linked to Marte all off-season. I see a trade for Marte as far more likely than a Bo or Tucker signing.
  23. Asian players, particularly the pitchers, tend to struggle the first MLB season. Id take Ponce over Imai in 2026.
