    There is another possibility with Smoak. Jays and Smoak have agreed on a deal in principle, just haven't signed off yet.

    Nope, those are no more. Guys can get released, and signed as free agents though.

    If not new FA, I hope the Jays trade for overpaid bums + prospects in the offseason. They have the salary room to take on a couple of bad contracts. Pipeline, other than Pearson we are looking at guys like Alford, Murphy, Kay, Merryweather to hopefully become 25 man guys next season.

    I would not be. There are only so many good FA each year. Jays can't just sit and wait for the players under control to start being high end MLB'ers and then expect to pick up some good FA at that time, out of the few available.

    Sanchez has come close to a complete game no hitter a few times with the Jays. So last night is nothing new. What would be new is if he becomes anything other than maddeningly inconsistent.

    Agreed, 100%. I was right in 2017 and still right today.

    Cashman did well in many trades, did s*** in some others. Have to remember Cashman is working with a very high player payroll organization, so he is always going to have more assets of value available to trade than any other team, save perhaps the Dodgers from time to time.
