I had him on my list but the scouting says his stuff is pretty average, effective against MiLB but doubts about its effectiveness against MLB. Hutchinson comp? So no reason to despair.

My best case scenario is Jays improve to around .500, Ken Giles is the best closer in baseball, and is moved for say... Lodolo.

No question, great trade. The Mets effectively get ~1 season from Stroman, and maybe not even that, if this covid s*** kills off this season early. The only negative I have heard about SWR is someone opined he is maxed out physically with less upside remaining than other 19 yr olds. Of course, that's not going to stop him from sharpening the secondaries over the next few years.

Responded to your PM. Every insurance policy has a 'cover my ass' paragraph. It's there for a good reason, if it wasn't, people would have less incentive to follow whatever protocols are in place.

Not necessarily. The waiver would provide no protection for negligence. I don't think the OH&S legislation would apply to amateur sports, but could depend on the circumstances. Professional sports would be a workplace with employer - employee relationships and OH&S applies. Law of the Land > Contract

Ontario law says each workplace shall have a competent supervisor responsible for occupational health and safety. The supervisor's responsibility includes having reasonable operating procedures, etc in place such that OH&S requirements are met and employees are protected, and to take action if those procedures are not followed. If an individual employee does not follow the procedures and is harmed as a result, employer would likely be liable if the supervisor was aware or ought to have been aware the procedures were not being followed and took no action. A waiver (a form of Contract) will not override the law of the land, which I expect is why most employers do not have them.
