  1. Sounds like some needed toughening up!
  2. Soto and Robles reported to Nats camp today
  3. Ah well, he'll be ready for ST 2021 I would consider moving him in BBDL though, for immediate help
  4. Spanky must be high on post surgery meds
  5. Well if not Toronto, Buffalo, or Dunedin I'm sure there are parks in the US up to MLB standard. Columbus? Charlotte?
  6. I find Huff, Stro, and Grichuk equally nauseating at times. Not one to allow bias favour one over the other.
  7. Carrying on the farce theme, apparently Juan Soto and Viktor Robles have not yet joined the Nationals because of local Washington DC rules which differ from MLB and other cities.
  8. Farce or not (10 days to go), I'm looking forward to watching some Blue Jays baseball.
  9. Polls show a significant public majority support the demonstrators. In such a situation, rebranding can make business sense, whether its the Redskins, Aunt Jemima, or whatever.
  10. Most Marriott hotels have two levels of Wifi, the basic and the upgraded high speed ($$). Kay needs to open his wallet.
  11. Every one of your sentences is incorrect, sorry. Based on what you have written, you probably think the Civil Rights Act was Congress bending to the demands of MLK et al. It wasn't, it was a response to changing public opinion. As are the current spate of changes.
  12. Rebranding has nothing to do with the name itself or its connotations, but the effect on the business / customer base. If Washington's NFL franchise thinks they will make more money (e.g., sell more jerseys) in this day and age by rebranding, so be it.
  13. Good point, but intelligence is innate. Quite a few of these latin players with little schooling have quickly adapted to the US, English, etc.
  14. I can't see why the intelligence profile of baseball players would be any different than that of the general population. If anything, I would expect the profile to be a bit higher.
  15. Curtis Granderson
  16. The Vlad 3B experiment was fine. His strong accurate arm was a good reason to see if he could handle it. The work he put in on his footwork etc will serve him well at 1B. He can also now play 3B for a short time if necessary due to injury, etc. It made sense to start him at the highest value defensive position he might be able to handle, and move him down the spectrum if not. Like pitchers, develop them as starters until they show they aren't cut out for it.
  17. The attempt to mold Vlad into a competent 3rd baseman probably kept his girth in check. And thereby is a risk of him moving to 1B already. Safe to gobble away, Vlad!
  18. Clarke Schmidt an illegal add?
  19. The only real issue I have is Donaldson. Shatkins probably just didn't like the offers prior to the 2018 season and rolled the dice on JD being a top player during the 1st half. Dice came up snake eyes. I go by the Branch Rickey golden rule. Pretty much everything else has been good or of such little consequence / who cares.
  20. Ya but 10+ lbs would align with how I voted in the poll!
  21. Deal would have been made before the Jays drafted him. If he didn't agree to the deal he would go into the pool of undrafted players eligible to sign for $20K. Jays saved $300K in pool money by this route, to sign Martin.
  22. Was part of a random FG article from a few weeks ago. cba to look for it.
  23. Looks 10+ lbs heavier to my eye.
  24. Saw a report that due to losses, teams will be more eager to dump salary this offseason, using prospects as the carrot. Will be interesting to see if the Jays go this route or the FA route.
