  1. Losing Ryu creates a need, for which there is no internal fill. Trading from a position of strength to get a controllable MLB SP, along with a high leverage reliever, does 3 things: - moves Stripling back to pen where he is optimal as a swingman - adds a controllable SP, an area where the Jays are relatively weak (Tiedeman and a few others notwithstanding) - adds the high leverage reliever they need to avoid using the silver fox or other crap in close games Again, it would make no sense for the Jays to go into 2023 with 3 MLB starting calibre catchers in Jansen, Kirk, and Moreno on the 40 man, optimally you want 2 of them, and some AAAA depth guy in Buffalo.
  2. So you prefer to stand pat and do nothing and potentially miss the playoffs due to a pitching weakness that is pretty apparent, in case one of the catchers get hurt? Bad logic.
  3. Gimme some names for the bullpen and rotation. Also, no one is panicking. As I said, no way do the Jays go into 2023 with 3 starting calibre catchers. Why wait til the off season to make moves when there are now needs?
  4. Correct, I have already staked it out
  5. Doubt that's the issue, the game plan is worked out in advance with the coaches. And between innings.
  6. Gausman said it himself the other day, he knows the other teams have made adjustments. His turn to figure out the same. Also, Jays need to trade for pitching, lol.
  7. You are misunderstanding me.
  8. Well let's see how Shatkins handles this, and who is closest to being right.
  9. I'm not thinking anyone. As I mentioned, I trust Shatkins to make the right deals. All I'm saying is it makes sense to move one of our THREE MLB starter quality catchers for pitching, now that Ryu is down and Jays have essentially ZERO SP depth.
  10. Sure they do. Miami is a position to do so, and are probably in active trade discussions.
  11. Depends on years of control. A current 3/4 starter with 5 years of control (essentially a rookie that is performing, with potential to become a #2 or better) would be fine for Moreno.
  12. As far as the return goes, we can trust in Shatkins. I am sure they will find equivalent value in terms of talent, years of control, and a good team fit.
  13. My original post on this discussion said that I hope Moreno comes up soon, see if he can handle MLB pitching (it would be SSS but still). There's no way the Jays go into 2023 with Jansen, Kirk, Moreno on the team. Unless Moreno converts to 2B or 3B, at least one of them and often two of them sit every game which is not optimal. If there are needs now, the smart thing is to deal one of the three.
  14. With a pitch / innings limit. Even if he does have some starts, he's probably capped at 4 IP / start.
  15. The loss of Ryu does create an SP need. Whether it happens this month or next a move will happen. Stripling as an SP significantly weakens the bullpen and results in essentially zero SP depth.
  16. the owner Juiced needs to upgrade to the latest platform but is a notoriously lazy person
  17. It should be expected that one or more of Gausman, Berrios, Manoah, Kikuchi will hit the IL for some length of time. I never said anything about a top of rotation starter. One of Moreno or Kirk should get both a #3-4 SP and a high leverage reliever.
  18. Teams use an average of 10 different SP over the course of a season. Stripling is best used out of the bullpen and as SP depth.
  19. Maybe you missed the 5'11" (plus 200 lbs) and 22 yrs old part. There's no way Moreno has anywhere close to the 25-26 yr old Realmuto speed when he hits that age. Chances are the Jays moved him from middle infield to catcher based on his body type and expectations he would become pudgy and slow.
  20. The Jays had weak SP depth before Ryu was lost for, presumably, the season. At this point, an SP is a critical need along with a high leverage reliever.
  21. Isn't his speed rated average @ 5'11" and 22 yrs old? I don't see Realmuto.
