  1. Speed becomes more valuable, yes, along with left handed SP. Also speed at the top of the batting order becomes more of a consideration, and mixing of speed guys and cloggers in the order avoided (this is particularly relevant to the Jays). My thoughts, anyway Wasn't Scott the guy that was a master in swiping 3B?
  2. One short, one fat, same sensitivity.
  3. Possible we see more pickoffs, not less. In addition to more SBs. Will make things more interesting, that's for sure
  4. What I am getting at is something like this: Option 1 - team option for 2/20 If Option 1 declined, Option 2 - player option for 2/8 If Option 2 declined, Option 3 - team option for 2/17 If Option 3 declined, Option 4 - player option for 2/12 If Option 4 declined, Option 5 - team option for 2/14 Basically, it is unlikely the team and player part company, and very likely they land at a 2 year extension at roughly market value. Player has incentive to perform, team is able to better manage the financial risk.
  5. I was referring to the multiple cascading options. Not really applicable since the options sequence happens after this season. Green isn't likely to pitch more than 25 innings, if at all.
  6. The Green contract is effectively a creative way to get around the restriction on performance bonuses. (Games pitched is not a performance based bonus)
  7. Waiting for the Jays original, Roy Howell My pic uploading skills have eroded to nothing
  8. i have the following in the same tier, and order them this way grienke sabathia pettite i think the first two get in, the 3rd no.... but they are all somewhat bubble guys
  9. Yes, unless Fantrax has re-programmed to allow drops during a draft.
  10. Most contracts have a window of time between an agreement in principle and execution. I can't imagine the Jays would do anything other than officially sign Green on the same day he can immediately go on the 60.
  11. 2023 picks 2-17 and 3-10 available for a 2024 2nd round pick Also, holds accumulator Yimi Garcia available for a 2024 pick
  12. Maybe the official signing will be delayed
  13. I don't pay attention to Law
  14. Pitchers, man. It's just as likely he doesn't get promoted to the big club. He has pitched all of 11 innings above A ball.
  15. Baseball history doesn't support this absolutism. I would expect the Jays are proceeding with a realistic expectation that Rick T MAY pitch for the Jays, and if he does, he MAY be effective. In other words, little to no reliance on him as a factor this season.
  16. The focus of any business is on the client, i.e., the fans. He had to give the fans a palatable excuse for trading a popular superstar. I recall at the time that Green did make comments suggesting Ash wasn't being honest. The Jays didn't want to pony up the cash, Green preferred the west coast. An agreement was impossible.
  17. Ryu doesn't rely on velocity as much, so he should be fine. I don't think the issue will be performance but his innings limitations.
  18. It's happened with others where guys that should have made HOF or at least come close didn't sniff it as votes went to others. Greinke is not a surefire HOF'er so it's going to depend on things lining up for him. That's all I'm saying.
  19. Will be interesting where Bonilla starts out at after extended ST. DSL probably, stateside would be something.
  20. https://www.prospectslive.com/prospects-live/toronto-blue-jays-2023-top-30-prospects The prospectslive guys are pretty good.
  21. Greinke should get in, but it depends in part on who is on the ballot at the same time. You've got Scherzer and Verlander likely retired around the same time, Kershaw maybe a year or two later. Who else?
  22. Yeah, lower FIP XFIP than Pettite and Sabathia, the two closest contemporaries not in the HOF.
