    LOL, just messing around with those over-reacting to this whole thing one way or the other. In all seriousness, team is in good shape and in good hands. Time to move forward. Good luck to AA wherever he ends up, if he ends up anywhere. He's definitely taking a risk. If Shapiro or any decent team president was his boss at the time of the Mets trade, he would've been fired on the spot, but anyway...

    I could swear some here have given Cashman plenty of credit for his success yet blast AA for not winning with a top 10 payroll. I could be wrong though...believe it or not, it's happened before!

    Why not look long-term though? If you have a chance to free up money for 2016-18, you do it.

    Why? He's just GM'ed the team to its first playoff appearance in 22 years, thus fulfilling the mandate set out by his previous boss and new team president comes in and forgets to add context to his evaluations, seems to me it's best to move on. Thing is, I also don't have an issue with Shapiro reviewing the organization from a long-term point of view. I guess those who have an anti-AA bias will blame him and those who had a pro-AA bias will criticize Shapiro. Anyway...

    I'm not asking you to give him credit, you can do as you please. It's ok to disagree. Fair or not, it's the way it works. If the team he GM'ed for 6 years had had a bad farm system for most of his tenure, he'd be blamed for it. Anyway...

    Not surprised at all. Shapiro has no ties to the 22-year playoff drought, he's trying to objectively look at the the 2016 Jays and beyond. He may have needed to put things in context, but such is life when a new Prez is brought in. I can definitely see AA's side though given his mandate as GM was likely changed after the 2012 season into win-now mode. Move on,

    Also, it's also dumb of Rogers to have made up their mind about the team Prez and GM yet allow them to make the moves they allowed them to make for the last year of their tenure. Once again, better lucky than good.

    All the losing wasn't AA's doing though. I was personally fine with not trying to win from 2010-2012 given what was being done with the farm system as well as acquisitions such as Escobar, Rasmus, Morrow and Lawrie. AA wasn't amazing, but he wasn't the terrible GM many make him out to be.

    You'd have to factor what the $aving$ would buy you. They could end up with 2 or 3 players for the salary Tulo makes.

    Shapiro will have to work his magic to turn this expensive train wreck around. Good thing is, he's used to working with tight budgets in Cleveland for many years.

    I don't get why you would make such a post when discussing the possibility of trading Cecil. I'm sure you didn't mean harm, but it definitely suggested that Cecil would be sacrosanct under AA. Anyway, all good.

    Deep down, neither side wanted to continue working together so I don't see how AA would change his mind and Rogers rightfully gave full authority on baseball ops to the new team president. I really don't get why so many are up in arms about this one way or the other. AA got the message last off season that he wasn't the long term guy, or at the very least, that his employer wasn't happy with his work. And on the other hand, a new team president has and should have the right to review everything about the franchise and make changes accordingly.

    You mean like trading Lawrie wasn't a complete shock to you? I mean, I get that AA wasn't perfect, but some of you guys are really gonna keep alluding to AA every time you want to praise Shapiro for a potential move? Anyway, to each his own.

    I wouldn't expect a return like E. Rodriguez, but Miller had a few months left on before FA while Cecil has a full season, maybe that brings the value closer than we think...or maybe not.

    Depends on all the moves they make. Remember, last year they traded a starter in Happ to plug the LF hole and a DH in Lind to get a guy similar to Happ, but cheaper in Estrada who ended up in the rotation. Just an example. Also, both Lowe and Hendriks are examples of guys that came out of nowhere to have very good years out of the pen. Now, I'm not saying to count on surprises, but I'm always willing to sell high on a BP arm. To be clear, I'm not saying give him away for nothing but $aving$. I'm saying see what you could get for him.

    Was just saying that they ended up making the playoffs during the infamous (to many) 3-year window that began in 2013. As it stands, many were completely wrong and it didn't end up being the train wreck many thought. I've already stated above that AA left the team in good shape both on and off field. I still think the whole go-for-it approach of the last 3 years was in large part an attempt to send Beeston into retirement with a playoff appearance.
