I agree. Plus, I look at it as a combination of moves. By trading Lind, they got Estrada. By trading Happ, they got Saunders. By signing Smoak they gave themselves some depth at 1B while improving the D.
Result: Estrada replaced Happ. Saunders plugged the LF hole and Smoak helped them at 1B.
Now, Saunders has been injured, but they didn't get him for just 1 year, he'll be back next year.
All this with a lower payroll than it would've cost to retain Lind, Happ and to sign a LF.
