  1. Apparently, Eric Byrnes and Alex Cora are alleging that Odor tried to hit Bautista in the face with the throw to 1B and when you look at a slo-mo replay, it looks like Bautista saw it coming and ducked his head at the last milisecond.
  2. I haven't commented in a while, unfortunately this incident prompted me to comment again. Bautista's slide was terrible. However, throwing 95+ mph baseballs at another human's upperbody is just as bad and possibly worse since it probably instigated the situation. Texas's still butthurt over a bat flip that physically injured no one yet they're pumping their chest about physically assaulting another human being. Waiting till the 8th inning of the last game of the season between both teams is quite pathetic. Their manager is a douche. Odor is a punk. Has anyone mentioned how he almost started a fight against Donaldson when he went Machado over a tag that was "too hard" at 3B? Anyway....
  3. Another Belichick special.
  4. Told you so, should have gone for the field goal earlier.
  5. Had the Patriots not gone for it on 4th down the first time, they'd' be going for the win now.
  6. I didn't agree with that call to go for it on 4th down, shoul have taken the FG IMO. Anyway.
  7. Other moves that were lauded here include getting Rasmus, Escobar and Morrow. It's also interesting that he was criticized quite a bit for getting Happ yet he turned him into Saunders in a move widely applauded. We also know he made some really bad trades. At the end of the day, his record is probably around average, give or take. Good luck to him. I think many are too focused on AA vs Shapiro. The real news in all of this is that Shapiro is replacing Beeston. We should also be thankful that Rogers fumbled last year's search for a new president or the team would have Kenny Williams as team president. I also think people are downplaying the message that was sent to AA with the fumbled president search. It clearly sent the message to AA that new prez would be a baseball ops guy which meant structural change in the organization. Anyway...
  8. There will be plenty of AB's for him even if he doesn't start.
  9. I'm pretty high on Pompey so I'm not that worried about a hole in LF.
  10. I think people look at where the team's needs are. However, it's interesting that so many hated the Lind for Estrada trade last year even though team got a SP and $aved in the process. People also loved trading 1 year of Happ for 2 years of Saunders, of course, Saunders projected better than Revere and made le$$.
  11. It seems to me that swinging at pitches out of the strike zone means weaker contact, higher % of swinging and missing and of fouling off pitches. What if Revere had swung at that pitch and popped out in foul territory? I'm sure some guy would be blasting his lack of discipline. Oh well...
  12. Pretty much expected. I have no issue with Pompey/Saunders in LF/4th OF. Team was/is pretty much set so I never expected major moves, those were made last off/mid season when then acquired Donaldson, Martin, Tulo.
  13. I think people forget he also left his family business to pursue his dream of a career in baseball. I think I read he started opening/reading fan mail with the Expos. I say good luck to him. There are several on this board who clearly dislike the guy, but hey, it's their right.
  14. That's a possibility.
  15. Seems odd that the smartest FO in MLB would hire this moron. Hey, what the hell, I hate him anyway so just call him stupid and gloss over why Friedman would value this fatso.
  16. I don't know why anyone would be surprised by the Jays being quiet this offseason. Firstly, most of the roster was set going into next season. There were several moves made last off season, and very good ones, but they were also made early in the off season and things got quiet afterwards, maybe that's their MO, even After AA. Secondly, whether some want to admit it or not, the Jays are not a team FA have at the top of their wish lists, to say the least. Now, once a player has played in Toronto, then it's a different story, as evidenced by their ability to re-sign Estrada and to bring back Happ. As far as the BP goes, it looks better to me going into 2016 ST than it did going into 2015 ST, some just have a short memory. I, for one, was glad the Jays made the moves they made last and this off seasons, especially if the alternative was to focus on the BP at the expense of other moves that were made.
  17. Jays weren't re-signing Price, no matter who the GM was. Got it? Ok, move on now.
  18. The hat was passed during the 2013 off season. Last off season, the F/O did a good job of improving the team without spending more.
  19. Saundabello?
  20. Alright, so all this means is that we will roll on the floor laughing for longer at the Red Sux!
  21. It seems like the Jays' front office was at least partly right in what they saw in Happ when they traded for him at the 2012 trade deadline. I also seem to remember increased velocity during the 2014 season and talk of a different release point. I often misremember though so who knows.
  22. The good thing about whomever the next GM is will be that he will have a president that seems to have a long term outlook rather than looking to change the team's direction to fit with his own retirement. Not to mention that he was a GM and will probably have the patience to see through a rebuilding process if they start one. We'll see what happens.
  23. I'd agree with this. Spend some money on BP, as risky as that may be, in exchange for development and rotation depth. And it could end up saving them money down the line. Although, I tend to like Sanchez as a 2-3 inning guy in the BP. This could give him a chance to develop secondary pitches.
  24. What would Donaldson fetch in a trade a year later?
