  1. Hendriks is the Smoak of relievers, no matter what his numbers are, Gibbons will find any which way to not trust him.
  2. Players do what they want on this team.
  3. Keep the prospects unless you get a really good deal for a youngish player with several years of control a la Donaldson.
  4. Lol at Blue Jays' announcers covering up team's players by praising the other team. It's such a joke.
  5. How can it be "all Perez" when Martin had no business taking an aggressive turn there? Perez made a nice play, but it was as dumb a base running play as you will see from a player. He had no chance to score there. On the other hand, so many players make dumb plays on this team that what's another one.
  6. Perfect example of why this team cannot be trusted to make more moves for pitching when they don't understand the importance of defense. We were hoping that they had come to their senses by acquiring Smoak to push EE to DH most of the time, but they keep finding excuses to sit Smoak. Goins serves no purpose if his defense won't be used. Anyway, I hope ownership comes to its senses and tells management they are not trusted to make moves at the deadline.
  7. Like the drunk fan in MLB would say, "so what, they'll blow it anyway"...amirite?
  8. That's right raysjays, that's Blue Jays baseball.
  9. Keep the prospects I say. When a team keeps playing Chris Colabello in the OF, it doesn't bode well in terms of making the right additions. This team doesn't just need SP, it needs to be better managed, and I don't just mean on the field. They clearly don't give a damn about run-prevention or flat-out don't even understand it. I must say though, that I think a couple people in that front office must be pulling their hair out over the way Smoak is treated since they got him because they saw some upside in getting him out of Safeco and saw how his glove would be an improvement over Lind/EE at 1B yet he keeps getting benched for days and only getting the odd start. Anyway, I guess they'll keep looking for the next Bautista and/or EE.
  10. Gotta get the chance first. I really hope Pompey and Norris do get the chance.
  11. I thought the Saunders trade was pretty good as it addressed LF for 2 years at a good price. And yes, it's wishful thinking, but at this point, I'd rather stand pat than let him overpay for pitching which he has done in the past.
  12. Anyone remember the talk in the offseason to give Reyes time at DH to keep him fresh? Well, it turns out he hasn't had a single start at DH while Donaldson has had 6. This is not to say that I want Reyes at DH. They were also supposed to have realized the importance of D yet have not consistently played Smoak at 1B and preferred Colabello's offense in LF even though it was almost completely negated by his bad D. Anyway...
  13. Well, more, but I doubt this franchise would trade either of them and raise the white flag for next year. It's also doubtful that they'd admit defeat and trade Buehrle, but I wonder if he could net the team something close to what they got for Shaun Marcum.
  14. What could Buehrle + some $alary relief net Jays in return?
  15. Morrow and Lawrie trades were good too. In fact, I'd like to see him get back to those types of deals to round out the roster. We also thought the Saunders trade was a really good one and some of us stand by this opinion. It's also to AA's credit that the team's farm system produced players that other teams coveted in trades. Too bad he targeted the players he targeted, but it's a good thing to have a farm system good enough to allow you to trade for established talent. Gotta choose the right players to trade your young talent for though.
  16. Would it be a legit move to switch Reyes and Travis in lineup? I know Reyes has the track record, but his BB% is continuing to fall (4.2%). Last year he walked 6% of the time. Anyway, it likely won't happen even if he continues to struggle.
  17. Road woes are doing the Jays in. Unfortunately, July will be spent mostly on the road so they'll need to suck it up.
  18. He's probably also interested in being the Nationals' president, "it" just hasn't paid off.
  19. Hope that Runs Allowed becomes attractive to some team and they can get something for him. Maybe sell Buehrle? Get the equivalent of a comp pick if possible. Anyway, I hope Norris and Pompey are called up soon, instead of traded.
  20. I will, but time will tell of course.
  21. I'll be done with this team for a while if they make another dumb one. It certainly wouldn't be a surprise since they were in a much better position last year and did nothing so it figures they'll do something stupid this year.
  22. Who knows, maybe this will be a reverse of last year and they'll have a big 2nd half. On the other hand, they could get swept in KC and be 5+ games back of division.
  23. Gomes is half way to Young in career WAR. It's possible AA ends up with 2 of the 3 worst trades in franchise history.
  24. I'm more worried about AA panicking now and making another dumb trade than a week ago.
  25. Hopefully, someone high up at Rogers is smart enough to stop Beeston and AA from trading more suspects.
