I think the point is that there wasnt much of any real competition back then (i.e bunch of out shape white men flailing at a ball). It's much harder to be that much better than your peers today with a much larger player pool than it was back then.

lol overating? I forgot about Carroll so 4th best. He's a stud on defence, can rebound the ball, can handle it, push the ball in transition and knows how to move off the ball for back screen cuts. Derozan cant shoot either, neither can he play defence or rebound for the life of him. Who cares about value, I dont want him traded, just play him. Good things happen when he's on the court and the stats back that up. This isnt some hidden potential we all see in him, it's the results he actually produces that makes him valuable. A Lowry, CoJO, Carrol, Johnson and JV lineup is the best we have but we'll never see it. And the spacing is horrible regardless if Johnson is on the court or not, at least the ball moves. Watching Demar take a dribble hand off at the 3 point line isnt better.

Curry was what 9th, Thompson late lottery pick, Green second round pick I think, Bogut just some injured guy they grabbed for free, Harrison Barnes mid lottery, brought in a great all around vet Iggy to help compliment them. It's pretty hard to out tank some teams nowadays and get lucky with good picks in good years. OKC and the wolves are the only teams I can think of that have had success with it over the past 7 years,
