Optimism is alive for my bets, but lots of golf still to be played. Should make for an exciting weekend though. Smith in first.

    Golf Thread!

I've been waiting for this day for like, two months. But in all actuality, it's a lot longer because I absolutely love this tournament. And as such, I have invested heavily in this week, despite the lack of recent form data available due to the lengthy layoff. So I guess the move is to reset everyone to their baseline for the most part, but I couldn't just entirely ignore the most recent data we have. With that in mind, I'm betting on the following players: Justin Thomas: 9.50-1 - my pick to win. I don't usually bet on guys with odds this short, but I'd hate myself if he goes on to win and I didn't place a bet. Daniel Berger: 21-1 Cameron Smith (EW): 23-1 - my other gut feel pick. I went heavily on Smith this week. Sungjae Im: 26-1 Jason Kokrak (EW): 36-1 Marc Leishman (EW): 36-1 Cameron Davis (EW): 126-1 - worth a small flyer on this course. He can just grip it and rip it and hope to make enough putts to at least finish inside the top 5. Stewart Cink (EW): 201-1 - f*** it. The cost is so minimal that if he regains form I could be laughing. My DFS: Thomas Berger Smith Reed Kokrak Homa Survivor Pick: Smith One and Done: Xander

I'm prepping my wallet for golf contest season. Mack's rolling out the following contests in early January that I will be partaking in: Survivor Season-long Pick 5 One and Done H2H Fantasy League (Fantrax) Anybody else joining? If you're interested and need the invitation, let me know and I can email it to you.

  13. Oddly, Carlos Baerga has broken multiple signings in the past, for what it's worth.
  14. Can anyone who's been more closely paying attention confirm if there will be a Rule 5 draft and Winter Meetings if there is no CBA deal in place, or will they get postponed indefinitely?

I finished 2nd in the P5 and won $425, my DFS lineup finished 22nd and yielded $50, and I had two different bets on Hughes that paid out for his top 5 finish, which netted me $140. I had many other close calls but fell short. All in all, good weekend.

Yessir, it's officially changing to (DP) World Tour as soon as the new season starts next week. Just to comment on the actual name change, it does make a lot of sense. They've been playing events in Africa and the Middle East for years now, so it's about time. As for the championship this week, agreed that the leaderboard is s***-littered with good players. Rory, Morikawa, Sergio, and Lowry are right there. Should be some great golf this weekend and I'm very much looking forward to it. Looks like I'll be pulling for Burmester.

Thanks, mang! JFL lost Oostie to a WD, sadly. But he's currently second in the P4 bonus, just 1 stroke back. Sucks about the lack of PGA golf for the next little while. At least there will be some late-night World Tour golf over the next few weeks to check out as they begin their new season in South Africa.

Ah man, sorry to hear that. I know the feeling when your team kills it through the first 2 rounds but you lose a couple guys to the cut. Happens to me all too often. Hopefully you can hang on to at least recoup your money. It proved to be a tough week to get everyone through. I had 6 other rinky-dink lineups and they all lost at least one golfer, but the lineup I posted did have everyone make it through, so we'll see how she goes. Also, currently 4th in the P5 (top 4 get paid) and only 7 out of 82 entries survived the cut!

It feels like this weekend is either going to be very good or painstakingly disappointing for me on the betting front.

    Golf Thread!

I'm going to put myself out there this week and hope that it doesn't come back to make me look stupid. With it being championship week on the Euro Tour (to be more aptly renamed DP World Tour next year, btw) and this being the final official event on the PGA schedule of 2021 before an eight-week break, I went a little, um, crazy on golf bets for the week. This is going to look pretty degenerate, but it's important to note that these are almost all small dart throw bets with long odds. If I hit one or two of them, I'll be laughing. The Each Way (EW) bets below place two different bets on the same golfer; one for the win and one that pays out 1/4 of the odds for finishing top 5. Let's start with the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai: Bernd Wiesberger EW (23-1) Patrick Reed EW (31-1) Min Woo Lee EW (31-1) Dean Burmester EW (51-1) Lucas Herbert EW (56-1) Sean Crocker EW (56-1) Danny Willett EW (56-1) Richard Bland EW (76-1) Guido Migliozzi EW (111-1) Jason Scrivener EW (151-1) Now on to the PGA bets: Mackenzie Hughes Top 20 (4-1) Corey Conners Top 10 (4-1) Justin Rose Top 10 (7-1) Andrew Novak Top 20 (9-1) Corey Conners Win (26-1) Adam Scott EW (41-1) Mackenzie Hughes EW (67-1) Henrik Norlander EW (81-1) Patrick Rodgers EW (81-1) Brendan Steele EW (126-1) My Pick 5 entry: Mackenzie Hughes Cameron Smith Webb Simpson Joel Dahmen Mito Pereira And finally, my DFS roster: Cameron Smith Mackenzie Hughes Joel Dahmen Mito Pereira Troy Merritt Andrew Novak With all the time I put into the research and money I invested in this week, I might have to quit golf betting if I don't come out ahead, lol. I'm playing with house money after a great week last week, though. Worth it.
