Then the management team is more incompetent than even I suspected they were. He may not be the 3.8 ERA guy his xFIP says he his, but his true talent isn't likely worse than a third of a run worse than that, at the most. With Stroman as the only other viable starter under contract, it would be foolish to give up on a mid/back rotation starter who will earn less than $1.5M. Unless he's moved as a significant piece for a significant upgrade.

I'm excited to see what next year's rotation looks like. There should be significant turnover for the first time in awhile. We're probably looking at: 1. 2. Stroman 3. 4. Hutchison 5.

Ryan O'Reilly has stumbled across something here. Cry for years about how underpaid you are and generally come across as a selfish piece of s***, and teams will apparently start to believe the hype you generate about yourself. No way a humble, reasonable Ryan O'Reilly gets this contract.

It could take a decade or more to find a player as good as Kessel. In a year or two when the Leafs are trying to convince people that they're ready for a playoff push they'll be missing that 40-goal talent.

He's not a terrible hitter, but unfortunately his defense only plays at DH and when everything settles the bat likely won't be good enough.

Yes. If V-Mart's knee injury either A) is chronic, or is not responsible for his poor play, then he is worthless. His value lies in the belief that neither are the case. Beltran just sucks. He has like a 100 wRC+ over 700 PA the last two years, and left today's game hurt. He's a step above waiver trash, not worth a 1st + top-100 prospect.

Neither is Sale's K-rate. I'll take Sale going forward, obviously, but so far in 2015 I think it's a wash.
