Had they caved last year because 'he's a star, and we need to show him how good an org we are' or some such BS, he would have earned 1.5M extra last year, and then this year, and next year, and the year after. Winning that 1.5M arb case was actually a ~6M win if he goes year to year. Even this 500K is actually 1.5M over three years.
