    When he hits those dingers he is a top 10 catcher. Unfortunately he has only been a top 10 catcher for 14 AB's this year.

    But that's not the point, he is still hitting for big power, just can't do anything else. Obviously its weird that more pitchers just don't give him anything to hit, he can't walk and swings wildly to avoid walks at any cost, seems like a no brainer to me.

    Your right, but the $2M is a sunk cost, it will be paid out regardless. If the Jays let him go it costs them $2M, if they keep him it costs them $7M, thus the only variable is $5M. $2M is getting paid no matter what. If the Jays trade him then they save $7M (assuming his option will be picked up which looks like a no brainer).

    It's only $5M if he stays, trade him and that is $7M saved. Gotta think if he keeps this up until the deadline his value is going to sky rocket.
