  1. A lot of board members were saying it would be a top 5 rotation if not the best before the season started.
  2. It was hopeless when the team was 11 games under .500, but only 4 games under not even halfway into the season and with Key guys like Reyes and Morrow on the way back as well as a whole bunch of other players who will add some depth, things look so much better now. It will still be a big hill to climb, but the depth will start to stack up real soon and its hard to look past it. Reyes, Morrow, Happ, Lawrie, Hutch, Drabek, Perez, Santos, etc, that is a lot of players that can help this team. Some not as much, but depth is still depth.
  3. Not so sure Rasmus will slump. I think he is what he is and that is a streaky hitter who will look horrible at times but overall can be a plus for this or any other team. The problem is as many have pointed out, not many options at 2B via trade. I highly doubt AA would even entertain moving Rasmus at the deadline, more likely in the winter in an attempt to restructure this team if at all. Gose on the other hand could be a possibility at the deadline or next winter. It really comes down to where the Jays are at and if they can keep it close someone important from our farm is getting moved. That being said, its tough to speculate without knowing what injuries might occur between now and the deadline. That will certainly influence what AA might target.
  4. Either case JJ shouldn't be a part of this team next year. I would much rather sign a short-term veteran and have Hutch in the mix. We have some depth in the minors that may be ready at some point next season as well. Investing big money in SP is just not a good idea.
  5. The ideal scenario is to move Rasmus for another piece that can contribute almost immediately. This team has a hole at 2B that needs to be addressed and could use some more rotation depth. The ideal scenario for me is to get a prospect in AA or AAA that fits that criteria and profiles to be something that can meaningfully contribute. That being said, I have a feeling AA will move Gose. I don't think he will be willing to take the risk of moving Rasmus.
  6. If a team is in contention, selling off players at the deadline is like ripping out the balls of the players on that team. It sends a horrible message to the players and to the fan base. Selling off players works if this team is not contending, but if we are no way AA can do that unless he flips minor pieces like Oliver who we probably have little need for at this point, in addition to making a big splash. Guys like JJ are not going anywhere unless AA feels we are out of the race. Only teams like the Rays can get away with stuff like that because their fan base and players know there is no money to be spent.
  7. This is good news, hopefully it will work out well.
  8. Well for what it's worth, Buck said he thinks he could be back Friday. Obviously nothing backing that claim up, but based on where Reyes is right now, that seems like a legitimate timetable.
  9. Buehrle is right now. If JJ can get going things are going to start getting real interesting, especially with Morrow and Happ working towards coming back. This team may actually have some quality depth in the rotation. Throw in Hutch in a couple months and if this team can slug their way to a winning record, they may be able to hold things down until the rotation has stabilized.
  10. He should be back in less than a week.
  11. We all realize this team is a big long shot, but your a real downer.
  12. No doubt. It's still a big uphill battle, just pointing out that they are not that far out. The second WC may not need 90 wins. 87-88 wins might do it.
  13. Jays will move to 5.5 games back of the WC with more than half the season ahead of them.....
  14. Jays will move to 5.5 games back of the WC with this win.....
  15. This team has momentum. The SP just needs to keep it close, our offense will take care of it. The best part is Reyes will be back soon and our offense is going to be incredible.
  16. I agree with this. If this team continues to play well into July, we probably see a big acquisition. As much as people don't want to completely mortgage the future, from AA's perspective, he has to do this and then when the time comes figure out how to fix the farm. There is no going back, he will push forward.
  17. A win today and that is 8/10. This is the run folks, just need to keep it going a bit longer.
