This is an 85 win team. A good start to the season can push that number higher, but it's still way too early to form any type of opinions. So far I like what I see, but I would like to see this team 5 turns through the rotation to get a better idea of what we can really expect out of our SP.

Yup. The funny thing is, as much as people seem to hate Goins and Diaz for being offensive liabilities, our overall D is significantly improved all around the diamond and we still have an offence that can do some damage even without Reyes. I think AA and Gibbons made the right choice to go all D while Reyes is out. Now of we could send Thole down and add another useful bat, we would have the needed roster flexibility to PH later in games and not have to worry if someone gets hurt and one of our 3 catchers has to play another position.

Couldn't agree with you more. I've stated in the past how this forum is a breeding ground for pessimism and just a generally depressing tone. Some of the more opinionated and well respected guys have their points of view and that is great because much of it is bang on, however, many other just jump on board anything they say and blindly follow them creating this cult like following. I really love learning about advanced stats and new ways to measure players and performance, but some of it goes to the extreme and that can be quite unwelcoming to new members who either don't know enough about advanced stats or are too afraid to state their opinions from fear of being ridiculed. A more welcoming tone on this forum would help to grow this thing and bring new opinions and fresh thoughts to discussion.

I will say this, the good defence up the middle is refreshing to see. It sucks that it comes from guys who have well below average bats, but I'd rather see a 3-0 game with good D than an 8-6 game with mistakes all over.

A series win would be huge to start the year. Plus we will have Lind in the lineup tomorrow as well. I'm expecting Kratz to be catching tomorrow as well seeing as Navarro has gone B2B games and since we have 3 catchers we must keep him rested. -
