Not really, no one in anything related to MLB thought Gomes would amount to anything. s*** happens, but let's be fair, AA f***ed up on Gomes, but he more than made up for that on Francisco. AA is far from clueless. I like to kid but I doubt he is inept.

And no one on this board who had the power of hindsight predicted Gomes would amount to anything either. Can't fault AA for not recognizing fluke prospects.

You are right. That being said, Hendriks has earned a spot. AA's mismanagement has put this team in a tough spot, but it's not the end of the world given how Hendriks has performed. Stroman will get his shot, and to be quite honest it should have happened by now, but I'm ok with this move.

Gomes was a nothing prospect. Sure he amounted to something more, but no one thought he would, can't blame AA for this. It's easy to expect more from him, but he is human and let's be fair.

He has done this for more than a decade. A couple terrible months last season heavily influenced this forum, but for those who knew what he was, it was just a matter of time. He isn't an ace, not anymore anyways, but he is a solid #3 and often times pitches above that and right now is going through a very impressive stretch. This is why he got the contract he did and honestly, it's not nearly as bad as most were stating it was. In fact many who we're have shut there mouth about it, funny how that works.

Looking smart and being smart are two different things. We need a GM who is actually good at what he does. AA might be that guy, but the past two winters suggest he might not be.

That is complete BS. No one thought Gomes was anything. Most people upset at the trade were upset at losing Aviles, I have a hard time recollecting anyone upset about losing Gomes.
