    Or: GOSE is nothing BUT a bench weapon (another Rajai Davis but with defense) Saunders misses time but is at least a league average LF over 120+ games Pillar gets minimal playing time but holds his own Travis starts years in the minors but plays his was to the bigs by mid season

    The April 28 date gives AA and Gibby all of ST and 3-4 weeks of regular season to see how their planned starting 5 are looking before having to decide if they need Santana or not.

    Yeah, that's about as negative as Anthopoulos speak gets. He was less negative about JPA when he left and JPA was both a worse player and a massive PR pain in the ass.

    If he doesn't make the starting rotation out of spring training, will he accept a bullpen role or agree to pitch in Buffalo as a potential injury callup?? What else do we know about this deal?

    We got rid of all 3 of Melky, Colby and Gose and acquired Saunders to be our every LF and presumed Pompey was ready to take over every day, with Pillar as our only real backup. Not a good depth position we had there...

    LOL good point Except this time at least using Martin on opening day actually makes sense, whether it's Dickey or Stroman starting

    TSN just showed video of Martin catching Dickey. Dickey was very complimentary about his abilities in an interview afterwards.

    Plus Hutch is no guarantee either. I like him a lot but he has been up and dowb since his TJS. Dickey and Buerhle are as close to sure things as it gets but they're mid rotation caliber. I wish they'd added a 1/2 caliber starter either of the last two off seasons. We need multiple guys among Stroman Hutch Estrada to be good in order to have any chance.

    Agree Estrada was a good pickup but I think they're depending too much on Norris and Sanchez. it could work out great but...
