    Great point No Stroman, and counting on Hutch to step up with a big year The problem is we got spoiled with Price and Stroman 1-2 at the end of the season and in the playoffs (neither of whom were on the opening day roster last year). This rotation as it stands is a step back from that obviously.

    Would anyone do 5 years 150M if it was restructured to include the 2016 season that's about to start? Would Bautista do that? He gets an increase for 2016 but we avoid paying him at age 41.

    Change your numbers to 4 years 100M (4 x 25) vs 5 years 110M (5 x 22) or something similar and your point will be better made (I understand the point you're TRYING to make - that shorter terms at higher annual average value can make sense. But no one would ever pay more TOTAL money for fewer years. Which is what your numbers show. That's why people are harassing you)

    I missed this tidbit from the same interview: In Marcus Stroman, R.A. Dickey, Marco Estrada and J.A. Happ, the Blue Jays have four of the members of 2016′s starting rotation set. Who will man that final spot remains cloudy, but Gibbons did shed some light on the situation Monday. “We’re going to stretch (Aaron Sanchez) out and see how that all plays out in the spring; decide whether we’re better as a team with him in the rotation or in the bullpen,” the Blue Jays skipper said. “And then of course you have (Drew Hutchison) and you have Jesse Chavez. So there’ll be some good competition.”

Gibbons says Tulowitzki would likely be open to stepping back into the role in 2016, but feels the veteran might be more comfortable elsewhere. “Tulo had always told me — and I believe him and I still think he feels this way — he’ll hit wherever we want him to,” he said. “I think he likes it a little bit further down to be honest with you, so we’ll see. But it really is a hole right now.”

    All he has said is that it's a hole, they have options and that he and/or Tulo prefer him further down in the lineup.

    There was a round table on MLB Network yesterday about the top 5 catchers in baseball. Everyone had Posey #1 of course. Everyone also had Martin in their top 5, one as high as #2.
