  1. Hitting White 2nd and Molitor 6th would be a firable offence in this day and age. Unless you win the WS of course (see Yost, Ned)
  2. Stats > memory SB 346 CS 98 Career for White
  3. For all his speed I don't recall White even being as good at base stealing as you might have expected. It became moot when Gillick acquired Henderson of course. This should have forced White to the 9 spot (Wait, did Gaston hit him 9th or no. I'm suddenly not sure) Edit: the dumb f*** hit White 2nd. How could I forget this. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA199310050.shtml?mobile=false
  4. Buck Martinez thinks Kevin Pillar is a "natural lead off hitter" and should get the spot http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/why-buck-thinks-pillar-is-a-natural-leadoff-hitter/ Of course he does...
  5. It's been so slow with news I made a separate thread
  6. OMG he would soooooo do this
  7. Martin caught Dickey for most of 2015 though didn't he?
  8. Sounds like a good depth signing if Martin gets hurt or if Thole sux too bad and Sanchez is playing great in Buffalo Edit: Does Thole have any options left? (MF Thole .204/.250/.245 last season)
  9. MLBTR: JAN. 13: The Pirates released Sanchez today, according to Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (Twitter link). JAN. 6: The Pirates announced that catcher Tony Sanchez has been designated for assignment in order to clear a spot on the roster for right-hander Neftali Feliz, whose reported one-year, $3.9MM contract with the Bucs is now official. Sanchez, formerly selected with the fourth overall pick in the June draft (2009), received just nine plate appearances in the Majors this past season and has only 155 Major League plate appearances under his belt. In that time, he’s compiled a .259/.303/.378 batting line with four homers. Sanchez has been about average in his 51 big league contests in the eyes of pitch-framing metrics, but he’s also struggled to control the running game, throwing out just 17 percent of attempted base-stealers (5 of 30). Those throwing struggles have also existed at Triple-A in recent years, though his bat at the top minor league level has been better, as he owns a .248/.342/.415 batting line at the Triple-A level across parts of four seasons. The 27-year-old Sanchez will now be in limbo for up to 10 days as the Pirates explore trade options. Pittsburgh can elect to place him on outright waivers at any time in that window, at which point clubs throughout the league will have the ability to claim him, in the reverse order of last year’s standings.
  10. Why is Kevin Pillar going to Saskatoon? (he's tweeting about it)
  11. I loved Tony Fernandez back in the day - you're right, he never got the last respect he probably should Where would you put him? Top 5? Top 10?
  12. Though also, I suspect 90% of Jays fans would have the same 5 in some order
  13. Just what I was thinking He's sure winning Gibby over with his work ethic and effort too
  14. That was worth reading -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I definitely can see myself batting lead off," Pillar said in Toronto recently. "It's a role I've been in in the minor leagues. ... My mindset doesn't change whether I'm hitting first or eighth or ninth. Wherever they put me in the lineup my job's to get on base and score runs, allow the big boys to drive me in. "But I definitely think I'd make a great lead-off hitter. I had success doing it in the minor leagues." Pillar batted .278 with a .314 on-base percentage through 159 games with the Blue Jays last year, his first full season at the major league level. He also had 25 stolen bases and was only caught stealing four times. While his on-base numbers aren't striking -- he walked just 28 times all season -- Pillar isn't too concerned about what his 2015 OBP says about him as a potential lead-off man, especially if the team has reigning American League MVP Josh Donaldson batting second again this year. "I promise you with Josh hitting behind me, if he's in the two-hole I'll get some better pitches to hit," Pillar said. "The walks will come ... We always talk about walks, and yeah walks are going to happen. But I'm out there to hit. If I get a good pitch I'm not going to sit around and try to walk. "But I promise you if Josh is hitting behind me I'll get on base more."
  15. Just cause I was thinking about it, my top 5 Halladay Alomar Delgado Bautista Stieb (*corrected)
  16. Poor Halladay and Delgado 2 of our top 5 players of all time and the team and logo/uniforms sucked so bad
  17. LOL f*** I love Josh Donaldson too much
  18. Yep Ricciardi's fault? Or was that even before his time?
