  1. It's hard to decide who the best starter is this year It's easy to decide who the best RP/closer is and it's by a huge margin It may actually come to that with the starters splitting the vote too much for any of them to win it
  2. s***-disturbing vote for Britton
  3. I don't imagine the Astros really wanted a 1.3 WAR season (what he's on pace for) out of Colby for 16 million dollars. That's 23% of their entire payroll this year. Edit: Oh, and no draft pick. Cause there's no way they roll the dice on him again.
  4. Sure is Until recently it didn't seem to matter. They just seemed to keep winning no matter what. But they finally sem to be faltering, and hopefully continue to do so.
  5. Unfortunately, Dickey and Saunders probably won't be worthy of offering qualifying offers. It'll probably just be EE and Bautista.
  6. Agree on all counts Both will get qualifying offers. That's a no brainier Then we'll see what happens
  7. That QO figure is really starting to get scary for some teams. Yankees , Dodgers, Red Sox, etc don't GAF. But it's supposed to be there to help the poorer teams. Oakland and Tampa and Minnesota etc are probably at the point they're scared to offer it to potential free agents for fear of it getting accepted and f***ing their payroll. Also, players are finally starting to occasionally accept them, something that didn't happen the first few years. It used to feel like an almost empty threat but not anymore. GM's really value those compensation picks. The system needs to change over the next few years.
  8. I think it's projected to be 16.7M And yes the team could afford to pay Edwin 20-25M a season if we keep Bautista at that cost. But they might get outbid on years. And some team still might gamble and give Bautista 3+ years.
  9. My son, my mother and my fiancée all love baseball so I have lots of people who will go with me happily. Dad was the biggest ball fan of all, but I lost him last December. Problem is I live, like, far away from TO. For now.
  10. I dunno. He's been this good or close to it for multiple years in a row now. And he's on what now looks like a very reasonable contract. I wouldn't trade him this off season. At the trade deadline 2017 or 2018 if we're not in contention, yes.
  11. Yeah. A lot has changed in 3 years.
  12. Probably not. Like Buerhle. He wasn't pitching well and they had zero problem leaving him off the post season roster. And no one is more "veteran" than Buerhle was.
  13. Does anyone think Gibby cares enough about Dickey's feelings to not put him in the pen in September or leave him off the post season roster entirely? FTR I think it's more likely Liriano pitches his way to the pen.
  14. I don't think it'll last more than 2-3 weeks Plus all these off days I think either Liriano or Dickey will pitch himself out of the rotation by Septemberr and only get back in if someone gets hurt.
  15. Went to one game in Toronto in June (Edwin's extra innings walk off HR) Went to Jays @ Boston in July (the one Stroman lost) Going to Toronto for a game vs MIN late August Will go to at least one playoff game presuming they're in it
  16. Good question He seems to have disappeared
  17. That's true But it's reason enough to avoid playing him in the OF anymore
  18. He needs to get on whatever Ortiz is taking And/or become a full-time DH
  19. Agreed Legit clubhouse cancer Oh, and replacement level on-field performance for sizeable $$
  20. No idea Plus it's hard to see the Dodgers selling this low on him
