  1. Reliever Dellin Betances has lost his arbitration hearing to the Yankees, Fan Rag’s Jon Heyman writes (Twitter links). Betances will receive $3MM next season rather than the $5MM he had been seeking.
  2. David Wright hasn't thrown a baseball since June 2016
  3. Adrien Gonzales has elbow tendinitis Shut down for at least 2 weeks
  4. MLBTR: As Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi further reports, Latos says he’s “willing to do whatever I need to do,” expressing a willingness to work from the rotation, out of the pen, or even at Triple-A. “I’ve got a lot of earning I need to do,” he said, “and I need to earn everything as it comes.” GM Ross Atkins, meanwhile, says he’s “excited” to bring Latos into camp, noting that the organization is hopeful he’ll earn a MLB job and wasn’t motivated to try to stash him in the minors. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/latos-lot-earning-signing-blue-jays/ Indeed, the Blue Jays now seem largely set with their roster more generally, as Atkins further told Davidi. Per the general manager, the organization is still looking into trade opportunities, but sees additional signings as “unlikely.” Toronto also doesn’t appear inclined to further bolster its rotation mix, with Atkins calling it “a tough sell” to add a starter given the team’s existing stock.
  5. Nice that the Edwin comp pick so high at 28 That's sweet Just how it. Goes I guess with teams losing their first rounders ahead of us This is the last year you'll ever get a top 30 pick for losing a free agent so let's take advantage
  6. Yeah that makes most sense and I'm. Hoping so
  7. With Latos signed I'm sure this is dead in the water
  8. Yeah I'm scared to trade him too Estrada worries me a little...
  9. Unlike some seasons, we need 5 starters for the entire month of April and at least the first half of May Not as many early or well timed off days as usual
  10. Hence my "trade is in the works" theory in the roster thread
  11. MLBTR summary of his up and down 2016: The 29-year-old Latos opened the 2016 season with the White Sox and got off to a strong start, logging a stellar 0.74 ERA through his first 24 1/3 innings with the South Siders. That excellent mark was buoyed by a .167 BABIP, though, and the 13-to-7 K/BB ratio that Latos logged in those four starts also served as a bad omen. Over the next six weeks or so, Latos posted a 7.25 ERA with 18 walks against 19 strikeouts before being released in mid-June. He’d later hook on with the Nationals and toss 9 2/3 innings, during which he yielded seven runs on 11 hits and five walks with 10 strikeouts.
  12. No, supposedly MLB deal for 1.5M Edit: I guess that's still rumour at this point
  13. Done deal
  14. Happ is very tradeable 2 years left at a reasonable 13M per season
  15. Liriano is starter for sure
  16. Biagini to starter Negotiating with Latos and EJax Hmmmm Sure seems like they MIGHT be entertaining trading one of the current starting 5 for an upgrade elsewhere They're not signing Latos or Jackson to pitch out of the BP as a swing man
  17. For all we know they've called Pagan and he isn't interested and the Pirates probably want Stroman ++ for Cutch Still, yes, I'm sure they COULD have found some way to improve LF. I like the starting rotation as is. A LOT
  18. Me too I think he has the tools
  19. If we're scraping the bottom of the barrell for SP why didn't we do that for 1B/DH?
  20. Yoenis Cespedes likes to be in the news Now lives on a ranch http://nypost.com/2017/02/13/inside-the-sprawling-ranch-that-yoenis-cespedes-calls-home/
