  6. And his team just won the WS. He won't completely cheap out obviously.
  7. Ownership has also publicly stated that they can't afford to keep both Strasburg and Rendon

  9. Yeah. 1B/DH only.
  10. Every other major sport - players almost only ever get traded for draft picks MLB - not allowed to trade draft picks
  11. I'd have happily had him for 10-20% more than that. 2 year deal is great.
  12. Wait. You can trade draft picks now? What categories of picks can be traded??

  16. Now he'll probably get half that salary on a 1 year deal
  17. Teams will want him. The Giants just didn't want him at his expected arbitration salary.
  18. Can't have Machado making all that money and finish last in the division again
  19. I didn't realize how poorly he hit in 2019 until I just read about the trade. .218/.301/.410
  20. Lost includes CJ Cron Addison Russel Kevin Pillar Aaron Sanchez
  21. MLB.com 24 notable possible non tender candidates before tonight's deadline https://www.mlb.com/news/non-tender-candidates-for-every-team
  22. Excellent post. You're right. Once guys get to arb 3 especially they're at high risk of being non tendered if they haven't proven to be good everyday major league players. And even if they are the projected salary is often too high to be palatable. Teams know they can sign vets for 1 year deals on the cheap to fill in their bench and bullpen. They now seem to mostly prefer this rather than over pay a guy in his arb 3 year to stay on for one more year. It's also another reason that smart low budget teams like the Ray's usually trade their good players away during their arb 2 year. Bigger return on the trade and more salary savings.
  23. The comments aren't very sympathetic. Lmao
  24. Guarantee he has contacted BVW about trading for Syndergaard too. Which the Mets say they won't anyway.
  25. I think they REALLY want to sign Stras or Cole and yet still manage to stay under the luxury tax. They've cut Ellsbury, Edwin and Gregorious already to save $$. (Though I can still see Gregorious coming back possibly)
