It was sad seeing cornerstone players leaving or being traded for seemingly light returns
Stroman seemed to net a decent return, he was the only one
Edwin walked (prob should have stayed, both sides would have been better off).
But Donaldson and Aaron Sanchez had been hurt so much it didn't feel like they were getting much back. Russel Martin was declining so we couldn't expect much back. Bautista wasn't worth bringing back for the same reason. Pillar was a fan favorite but had minimal value by the time he was traded. Osuna got dumped for a decent closer but older, with health problems and shorter period of control.
Plus the Jays were paying gobs of money just to unload Martin and Tulowitzki
It was an aging roster and it made sense to trade everyone. But it was also sad and the overall returns didn't make you feel very good about it.
