  1. They probably held him back just in case And now it's in case

  3. Curse of the minor league ballpark Goddammit
  4. Why is anyone pitching to Ohtani
  5. The best part of this post is picturing Montoyo being long forgotten in 5 short years
  6. He went to Cito school for sure
  7. Yeah I'm good with 2-3 nornal innings before adding the runner That's like having normal a normal hockey OT period before resorting to a shootout
  8. MLB Hoping To Return To Nine-Inning Doubleheaders, Modified Extra-Inning Rules In 2022 • By Anthony Franco TODAY: The automatic runner rule in extra innings might be modified rather than removed, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale writes. The rule could be altered so that the auto runner wouldn’t become part of the game until the 11th or 12th inning, with the first extra frame or two played until regular rules. July 13: “I don’t think seven-inning doubleheaders are going to be part of our future going forward,” MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred told reporters (including ESPN.com’s Jeff Passan and MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand) today. Additionally, Manfred also suggested that the league could do away with the modified extra-innings rule that saw a runner automatically placed on second base at the start of each extra frame.
  9. Part of the problem was the players no doubt. Such an awful seaon especially 2012. But I thought he was terrible too
  10. Same John Farrell: Poor people skills Poor bullpen management Poor understanding of game strategy Sounded smart during interviews Montoyo Good people skills Poor bullpen management Poor game strategy Sounds dumb AF during interviews
  11. I've gone too far lol
  12. It's hard to compare Cito Some of the stupid s*** he did was commonplace at that time and just reflected that era He also had such a ridiculously good team that even Montoyo and Farrell could have won a WS with them. Especially after he was gifted the best leadoff hitter in baseball history and made his lineup construction easy. Even though Joe Carter shoukd not have been hitting third before they got Henderson it probably didn't matter much.
  13. I'll say Gibbons (easily the best) Gaston (I didn't like Cito at the time but we've had many worse since) Montoyo Farrell I dont remember much about Fregosi and Martinez as managers except that were also roughly lower tier. Let's face it this team has been cursed with a lot of mediocre managers. As much as Montoyo drives me crazy I still think Farrell was actually worse. I'll never get over him winning a WS and MOTY when he went back to Boston my entire life so maybe that biases me a bit too.
  14. How bad is Montoyo compared to Cito and Farrell? With the recognition there may be some recency bias please rank those who managed at least a couple seasons in the last 30 years Cito Gaston Charlie Montoyo John Gibbons John Farrell Jim Fregosi Carlos Tosca Buck Martinez
  15. At least in their case their guys have a long history of being excellent. Until recently.
  16. Boone says they're "going nowhere" without Britton and Chapman closing out games so that's who he's going to use
  17. I'm glad there's no off day tomorrow I want to beat the snot out the stupid annoying Red Sox NOW
