  1. Cueto put up decent numbers in a bad division this year He hasn't put up good numbers in a good division in a long time Not sure how he gets valued. Seems like someone who gets picked up by a non-contender with a big ballpark.
  2. Yeah. We need to replace some of the offense we lost trading Teo I'd prefer a solid LH bat rather than upgrading SP5 if we can't do both
  3. There are still some big $$ teams who don't have a long term solution at SS including the almighty Dodgers and Yankees as well as the Red Sox now. Those teams will be all over Bo if he proves he can play SS at an acceptable level
  4. Now is the time to start the deal of you ever will So you're paying him until 36/37 instead of 40 His bat is good enough to play at other positions Or trade him now
  5. Outbid the Padre$$$
  6. He underwent shoulder surgery last week and is expected to be sidelined into late August
  7. This current SS superclass is crazy It won't be as rich when/if Bo hits free agency. Will teams really value him the way they have Lindor/Turner/Correa/Bogaerts/etc? Offensively I can see it but he's not as good a defender as any of them.
  8. Yeah Every time the Jays faced him instead of Snell/Baz/McLanahan/Glasnow/etc I was always hopeful we'd hit him hard and yet it never seemed to really happen Vladdy 4 for 28 against him Teoscar 13 for 34 with an OPS over 1400 Bo, Springer, Chapman all really bad against him
  9. The Royals announced they’ve signed left-hander Ryan Yarbrough to a one-year contract. It’s reportedly a $3MM guarantee with $1MM in available incentives.
  10. Prediction: Mets trade Carrasco this off season By the All Star break Mets are in desperate need of a starting pitcher
  11. MLB Network: 4 teams are involved in trade discussions for Carlos Carrasco
  12. Well the real answer of course is whichever one gets us Ohtani sarcasm
  13. I'm fine with the Kiermaier signing knowing that they tried hard for Nimmo and lost out to the Met$$$ and that he probably just wanted to stay there anyway. The overpay required to get him away would probably have been absolutely outrageous.
  14. My 2 cents in the debate: Kiermaier should play excellent defense and has an 80% chance of being a slightly below average or average hitter this year. No chance he's better than that, and 20% chance he has a crappy offensive season. Bellinger will play excellent defense and has an 80% chance of sucking balls hitting, maybe a 10% chance of being "good" and a 10% chance of magically returning to a beast at the plate /opinion based on a combination of stats and gut feeling
  15. Maybe on average and in the B class of FA SPs But some big $$ team (Padres, Dodgers, Yankees) will probably still pay big $ for Rodon specifically
  16. Yeah. Stripling and the team knew he wouldn't get a big big $ offer. And I like the Bassit deal better It was likely right to not qualify him all things considered.
  17. Terminator saw the opportunity to use the word "thrice" and took it. Like a BOSS.
  18. Should the Jays have qualified him? Would have offset the draft pick loss for signing Bassit But would have hurt his market which was obviously a bit weak. Clearly no one sees him as a full time rotation piece.
  19. Agreed Red Sox are a complete mess with no direction and once again might be the worst team in the division as the rosters currently stand. Orioles seem ready to strike but just aren't quite "going for it" yet.
  20. Me too I would have happily kept him for that price Paying Kikuchi to suck and Ryu to not pitch hurts
  21. Shi Davidi was on MLB Network this morning. With significant paraphrasing on my part... His impression based on early off season intetests vs the last few weeks required a pivot He thinks they prob had about 30M to spend comfortably. Plan A seemed to be signing Nimmo for CF and a cheaper SP in Heaney. Those seemed to be their primary targets early in the off season. It seemed like when they couldn't get traction with Nimmo that they changed plan slighty and went to plan B which was getting a less expensive OF and budgeting more for a SP. Hence KK and Bassit. (FWIW I'm quite fine with the Plan He thinks they are trying to work out a deal trading a catcher for a younger left handed hitter but has no idea who that might be, just knows that's what the FO wants. He thinks it's possible they might have tried to keep Stripling if the price was right but seeming less likely as time goes on that he'll stay.
  22. Yankees making their formal offer for Rodon ... Or something
  23. Was going to post something similar about batting KK only had only two true terrible batting seasons. Most recently he has been in the 90-104 wRC+ range. If he can keep up average/slightly below average hitting that's OK. JBJ is a HUGE liability in the lineup. KK is not. He's not great but he's acceptable if he keeps up the defense.
  24. Most of their MLB roster is on huge $$ contracts
