  1. I'm pretty sure they ARE after a LH bat. But with the payroll where it sits it will almost certainly have to come via trade for a pre-arb or arb level player as opposed to a free agent.
  2. Does Vladdy have the work ethic/insight that Harper has? I think he has a similar high level of natural hitting talent. I just hope he can make the necessary adjustments.
  3. Yeah. Chapman is above agerage by wRC+ as well. And with Tapia/JBJ gone we don't really have any TERRIBLE bats. I'll try to calm down. If everyone is healthy and performing it's a good lineup. There's just more risk than I'd like for Vladdy to be mediocre and Springer to spend half the year at DH instead of in the OF. I guess one more legit bat helps mitigate that.
  4. At what positions to we have above average bats? Catcher 1B SS CF (I suppose DH sort of if you consider it's usually Kirk, Springer or Vladdy but when it's Vladdy or Springer you lose the advantage at their primary position) That's it if you ask me. We're going to have a GOOD starting rotation, GOOD defense, and MAYBE a good bullpen. But none of the above are GREAT. So... Is that enough offense? Even WITH Teo the team would struggle to score for weeks at a time sometimes. And Vladdy might do another 2021 or he might not. I'm certainly not going in to the season counting on it. I can't help but feeling like we're a good bat short.
  5. Plus he n' Springer are BFF
  6. Lol 3 posts in the same minute
  7. 233M https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/tax/
  8. Fine with me Now let's trade for a big LH hitter in a trade that no one saw coming...
  9. Cueto put up decent numbers in a bad division this year He hasn't put up good numbers in a good division in a long time Not sure how he gets valued. Seems like someone who gets picked up by a non-contender with a big ballpark.
  10. Yeah. We need to replace some of the offense we lost trading Teo I'd prefer a solid LH bat rather than upgrading SP5 if we can't do both
  11. There are still some big $$ teams who don't have a long term solution at SS including the almighty Dodgers and Yankees as well as the Red Sox now. Those teams will be all over Bo if he proves he can play SS at an acceptable level
  12. Now is the time to start the deal of you ever will So you're paying him until 36/37 instead of 40 His bat is good enough to play at other positions Or trade him now
  13. Outbid the Padre$$$
  14. He underwent shoulder surgery last week and is expected to be sidelined into late August
  15. This current SS superclass is crazy It won't be as rich when/if Bo hits free agency. Will teams really value him the way they have Lindor/Turner/Correa/Bogaerts/etc? Offensively I can see it but he's not as good a defender as any of them.
  16. Yeah Every time the Jays faced him instead of Snell/Baz/McLanahan/Glasnow/etc I was always hopeful we'd hit him hard and yet it never seemed to really happen Vladdy 4 for 28 against him Teoscar 13 for 34 with an OPS over 1400 Bo, Springer, Chapman all really bad against him
  17. The Royals announced they’ve signed left-hander Ryan Yarbrough to a one-year contract. It’s reportedly a $3MM guarantee with $1MM in available incentives.
  18. Prediction: Mets trade Carrasco this off season By the All Star break Mets are in desperate need of a starting pitcher
  19. MLB Network: 4 teams are involved in trade discussions for Carlos Carrasco
  20. Well the real answer of course is whichever one gets us Ohtani sarcasm
  21. I'm fine with the Kiermaier signing knowing that they tried hard for Nimmo and lost out to the Met$$$ and that he probably just wanted to stay there anyway. The overpay required to get him away would probably have been absolutely outrageous.
  22. My 2 cents in the debate: Kiermaier should play excellent defense and has an 80% chance of being a slightly below average or average hitter this year. No chance he's better than that, and 20% chance he has a crappy offensive season. Bellinger will play excellent defense and has an 80% chance of sucking balls hitting, maybe a 10% chance of being "good" and a 10% chance of magically returning to a beast at the plate /opinion based on a combination of stats and gut feeling
