Looking up total career BA/OBP can be misleading sometimes
When we traded Escobar and got Reyes I was surprised to see that they had almost identical career OBP's. However, Reyes' career numbers were skewed by 2-3 bad years when he was very young as you can see above. Escobar didn't appear in MLB until he was older and was good from the start. If you do this graph comparing those two, its very obvious who the better hitter is now...
