1. Most starters now just see 5-6 IP as acceptable. They're not conditioned to pace themselves to go 7+. They chase velocity and strikeouts.
2. Most bullpens have some beasts that managers want in for the 8th/9th innings anyway if the game is close at all.
It's fine. Just different.
This new generation of super high velo/high K / low innings pitched guys just pretty much have to expect they'll need TJS at some point in the career. Good thing is most come back OK in about a year.
