    A solo home run or two is fine. I pretty much expect that every Dickey start. The only times he gives up crooked numbers is when he either a) walks a bunch or gets bloop singled to death, and then a home run

    True story: Opened MLB At Bat on my.phone. it jumps straight to game day. The first words I read are ... Cabrera and homers... and I groan. Then happily realize it was OUR Cabrera. Sweet! 1-0

    Probably right There is nothing more volatile than relievers Heck, we were worried about Loup at one point and now he's nails again (touches wood) And yeah, we can't even complain about the bench now so we're complaining about the bullpen. LOL I'll calm down. if Delabar can just stop walking the first batter he faces almost every time.

    A difficult question He was so effevtive first half last year and was always the best option for innings 7/8 against RH batters. What happened? What does Gibby do??

    I would rather, especially if we're keeping Melky in left But Gose needs to be able to get on base at an acceptable clip. He might or he might not. So far so good but it may or may not last. The power difference I could care less about. We hit too many home runs as it is. (LOL J/K)

    Anthony Gose's UZR/150 is a small sample size and so off the charts, stupidly positive that I won't even type it here Clearly it's a fantasy-type number that won't last. But that said, it really feels like there's almost no ball hit to CF that he can't get to.

    Good point Does UZR as it currently stand make any disctinction in terms of how far someone has to go to get to a ball in play? It's more based on how "catchable" the ball was so I guess so?

    Colby defenders beware: If you bash the UZR you're going to be going with the "eye test", which to me has not been so good either, and said "eye test" is generally frowned upon by the stat heads. Colby has been, on average, a pretty much neutral defender by UZR and dWAR over his MLB career. That's fine when he's hitting a ton, but he has not done that this year either. Colby 2014: .222/.266/.489 wRC+ somehow still 105 (all from the slugging I guess and 9 HR) That OBP is brutal as is the 32.9 % K rate Dude needs to step it up in the second half, and I REALLY hope he does

    I sure hope so So far Colby has given us exactly 0 WAR this season (thanks to missed time and negative defensive value...) NEGATIVE 35.2 UZR/150 so far...

    Trying to decide if I should get to Fenway for a couple Jays games in late July. A friend wants to go. So does my son. I think I should make it happen, say what?? It's a 7 hour drive from here which is great.

    Yes. We need to keep winning at a. 600 clip Sox will climb but they're a good ways back so we need to keep ahead Yankees and Rays will take care if themselves I think Baltimore we will have to root to play spoiler every time they play Boston and New York but they look like a. 500 team

    My God, have any two players acquired in a trade ever s*** the bed as badly as those two did last year. Motherf***... still makes me mad. Those two (and JPA) sucked the life out of this team last year.
