  1. Dressing up for the occasion.
  2. I do think Jeter deserves to be there. And I think no one should take 10 ballots to get in. It is such a ******** system that somehow this person that works as a reporter in the industry needs 10 years to figure out if Walker is worthy of their vote. Even the one person who didn't vote for Jeter did so because they don't feel he deserves to be in that special spot of unanimous. Al of it devalues the hall. I say we start up our own.
  3. I love what Vizquel was and he belongs in the hall of really good. But Scott Rolen is probably just one tier below Vizquel on the defensive side of things and about 30 tiers above with the bat.
  4. He wanted 4 or was going to take 1. Interesting plan.
  5. I laugh that people are on a witch hunt for the one person who didn't vote for a guy that is in the Hall (and probably middle of the pack among those that are there)...yet no outrage that the greatest pitcher and greatest hitter in baseball history remain out.
  6. Which brings us full circle to a recent Trevor Bauer quote. One of the biggest issues in baseball are the announcers.
  7. If the trends of last year (where those that don't make their ballot known don't vote for Walker on anywhere near the rate as those that do) it is going to be tight for Larry tomorrow. I was going to do a board contest to the best shots at those that voted for Sosa, Man Ram, Vizquel, Kent, Wagner and Andruw Jones but not Walker. But it turns out even out of the public ones there are too many. Hopefully one of these votes won't be a difference maker.
  8. Keep in mind those rankings are an individual, not a consensus, and is for Fantasy not real life.
  9. The underdog story...the team accused of cheating coming out to prove they can do it clean. Disney already secured the rights.
  10. I actually agree with hockey somewhat. I don't enjoy the women's game as half the game is played between the bluelines. One person holds the puck way too long. WNBA I watched for about a season and made fun of it like all good men It was a a throwback style of using the entire shot clock and take a 15 footer. Then when I was there for the Pan Am games I was impressed how much more athletic they were than they used to be (probably helped along that I was so much less athletic than I used to be). I really enjoyed the game (at least when Canada or U.S. were playing). I don't go out of my way to watch it or anything but if it's on I have no issue watching it. I don't think I'd really watch women's baseball on TV. But if the national team is playing locally I'll support.
  11. I've never understood people who make the argument that a female player would lose miserably to mens thus they can't enjoy it. Do you watch the Little League World Series and say "Trout would destroy this kid"? This game sucks.
  12. but his mathematics degree will help him in leading the team in meditation. PS. Nakken is out there doing a very specialized job as well. Her role will be similar enough to 1 part of Erlichman's as she is trying to get the team to buy into health and wellness as well as injury prevention in practice.
  13. And when has it ever been on the teams to market the players nationally. Stop blaming people who are playing the game intelligently and throw some of your Billions into a marketing budget. Make players accessible to fans and learn to market the analytics you f***ing whiners.
  14. I spent part of my week working on a Female Development committee and working with CAAWS. Yep. I don't compare women's sports to men's sports, nor do I choose to watch them over Men's. But I thoroughly enjoy women's sports. Don't care if others don't.
  15. 1977 Braves, 2018 Tampa Bay Rays (well his experience is intramural softball)...Blue Jays own Carlos Tosca
  16. you know women's baseball is a thing right? It's a lot like u14 rep ball (lots of swinging down on the ball and bunting) but it's also less than 10 years old. I watched Canada play the U.S. in the Pan Am games and two girls from the U.S. put balls out. And one girl was hitting 80 consistently. Not the PanAm game I'm talking about but first game that came up in a youtube search.
  17. Easily lost in all the s*** going down...the Giants hired the first ever female coach. Congrats to the Giants.
  18. Coming to MLB dugouts next year.
  19. The TV deal is extended with FOX until 2028 and they are probably going to get extensions from ESPN and Turner as well, owners won't be pushing anything through this decade. It has to be really hard to tell anyone who is swimming in money that their business is in trouble.
  20. and MLB's full report. Sorry if this is already posted. https://img.mlbstatic.com/mlb-images/image/upload/mlb/cglrhmlrwwbkacty27l7.pdf?fbclid=IwAR3jUGf611LZpzjDaZ4w49N8DkxnNn6H0hQq4H6zXSrtElZNJvsIW6I1OzY
  21. I saw a great webinar on sport marketing on how MLBAM drives profits but is killing the game by monetizing all highlights. There are two companies which predicted baseball would fall out of the top 4 within 15 years, falling behind soccer and eSports. It sounds ridiculous but 20 years ago it would have been ridiculous that it was behind basketball.
  22. The worst thing is that people will blame this on the reason baseball is suffering and nothing will change with their marketing
  23. If you aren't cheatin', you aren't tryin'
  24. Gibby's Jays faced so many accusations I think you'd find that there is a better chance he gets nailed
  25. Braves better hope Riley improves
