  1. K-Rates the single biggest MiLB statistical tell for hitters. I learned years ago after falling in love with every single "Toolsy" CF prospect that ever existed. If they are going through the minors and the K-Rates started poor and gets worse as they progress, then they likely are never going to make any dent at all (I give him a 0-5 percent chance of making it as anything but a defensive CF...and we know by now not to listen to a single defensive scouting report in the minors). The one exception to the rising K rate theory is when they are a 70+ power (35+ HR's can do a lot to help out even a 30% K rate. Now there are some players that are toolsy, start out poor in the K-Rates, but they are improving, but the results still aren't there. These guys should get your attention. I missed it in 2013 with Pompey (Kudos to NJH who still continued to rank him)

    NFL Thread

You are the best running back in football and your former college teammate gets a call from an NFL team...what do you get him? Why you bang his wife of course
  3. Valbuena is the perfect fit for this team though. Keep hanging on to your fat pitcher but Valbuena makes so much sense.
  4. I'm not a pitching mechanics guy at all. If i understood pitching better I probably could have hit more when I played. All I know is that in the minors Sanchez's lack of swinging strikes was a concern...and it wasn't any better in his small sample last year in the bigs. Getting swinging strikes may not even be a mechanical thing. Maybe it's changing to a cutter or something like that. If Moogy weren't such a **** he might actually be the guy to talk about it.
  5. The point, at least that the Statsy guys are trying to make, is that Sanchez doesn't need to just get down and pitch...his stats are not going to be great if he doesn't learn to miss bats more. IMO, If they are going to send him down, there should be a little more than tweaks going on, it should be some major changes which might require him to not be ready all year.
  6. What does Google have me at...I'd prefer not to post the pic of my mullet years.
  7. All Dominican Mexican's say they are 2.5 inches bigger than they really are. I am 5'10.5" and I have a picture of Pedro and I (my third favourite pitcher of all time) and I am taller than him. I'll scan in a moment.
  8. .240/.336/.417. I'll throw another outlier out there...what was Kluber's projections for 2014?
  9. There is of course the option of actually trading for a pitcher mid-season. Pencil Kazmir in for 10 start after Hutch and Stro get hurt. While I joke and I should be shot for wishing harm upon a Dukie...there is some value knowing where you are during the season before making any SP move
  10. you may be fast with the quote...but I have the power of the edit
  11. Note to all GM's....acquire bounces:D http://www.jumphouses.com/_borders/SportsArenafield.JPG
  12. There is only one thing that every team must have or do to win the in the playoffs...that is make the playoffs.
  13. Cause I'm not. I'm an Expos fan.
  14. Acerbic is an anagram for Rice Cab...I don't think I like your racist tone young man.
  15. Waginers is an anagram for swearing. I think he's maybe tell me to f*** Off. I'll leave it as a warning for now...but the creating a thread and swearing at a mod is generally grounds for having your BJMB balls cut off.
  16. Or just root for the team geographically closest to you
  17. ah yes August 7, 2010. What a glorious day it was. And no I haven't left the Rays as they still hired away one of the best minds the Blue Jays had in their F.O., and he's still with the Rays. I also haven't left Friedman's dick either. I also still want to see AA f*** this whole thing up, cause that man is not in any way a brilliant baseball mind, nor are 80% of the guys around him.
  18. Well this answers one area of depth, I've talked about. The other, someone above replacement level that can play multiple positions, might not happen but it's probably not the biggest deal if they don't. Pitching depth still shouldn't be a huge issue, so Jays fans should be happy...any time you can probably get more value, trading from a strength it's good. hate that AA is doing smart things...I still await the stupidity
  19. Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.
  20. The Jays interpretation of extreme is a little different this year...it's all about a happy clubhouse http://i01.i.aliimg.com/wsphoto/v0/559868031_1/Artificial-turf-grass-with-flower-free-shipping.jpg I personally would have went with and brought back Merkin Valdez for a cross-promotion http://i1010.photobucket.com/albums/af223/dacitizen/astroturf3.jpg
  21. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24860325/report-billy-beane-and-josh-donaldson-were-at-war-by-end-of-2014
  22. Don't you only have 6 months to settle PTBNL deals though? Snag in the winzzzz
  23. Then neither is the prospect you give up for another LF. I just really believe 1 year moves make sense for the Jays...don't give someone 4 years for that one year though.
  24. Than why mention not having to give up an asset? I'll draw some ire here...but from a value end of things 1 year of Fowler and giving up Miguel Castro is better than 4 years of Melky and not getting the comp pick. Of course there are options better than both those scenarios In the end I think Melky and Fowler will produce about the same value next season...but with the addition of Donaldson, I really don't think the Jays need to seek out an OF that produces the majority of his value killing lefties. Fowler for this reason makes less sense.
