    mostly because of the title fail of "sign". As Russell Martin was actually loaned to the Glasgow Rangers (as any good Anti-Catholic would know) he could have said "Sent to the Rangers" and it would have been much better clickbait and disappointment. If you are going to troll do it right ... I'm sure that is someone's motto. Because of that I'm going to bring back the wheel for this one. You have 2 hours to pick a number between 1 and 40, or I will allow J4L to pick one for you.

    Baseball is slowly becoming basketball. Hilarious hearing Starlin say that he doesn't want to go through another rebuild like he did with the Cubs when the Cubs won the season right after he was traded. Maybe you should want to go through a rebuild and be part of the reason for a win this time instead of the guy who gets traded because there are better options out there.

    He's not sexy and his numbers looked different as a starter last year. But he's a big boy that should hold up as a starter. In struggling as a starter last year his numbers were still okay. Live by the projections...die by the projections. I'm okay with them making this deal. Moran is this year's second half Polanco...only doing it for a full year.

    I just don't get this narrative. They got back a pitcher who has 4 years of control and is projected better than Cole this year (2.7 to 2.6 by Steamer) plus they got a contact guy that completely changed his swing to almost double his flyballs last year, and a solid reliever. I think the Cole deal is a huge win for Pittsburgh...so much so that I think the Cutch deal is so much worse.

    Pittsburgh and SF just swapped spots as Depth Charts projected wildcard (SF jumps the Mets into the 1st WC, while Pittsburgh was the 2nd WC previously).

    The funny thing is that the Pirates were projected almost equal to the Jays (and higher than the Giants prior to the trade). I think the Cole trade actually move their projection up (Glasnow's extra 30 innings and Musgrove's 157 are projecting higher than Cole) Usually former MVP's have a higher trade or perceived value than their real value. Cutch projecting a $10M surplus this year and most are expecting the return to be low.

    I think they do whatever the can to keep him but they are set up for a 2019 mid season or 2020 sell off as well. 2 years $70M for Scherzer with no options isn't insane to move if he keeps pitching well, and Strasburg would be 32 and have only 3 years $55M left making him a very valuable trade chip. A healthy Adam Eaton could be a huge trade chip as a 32 year old with 1 year $1.5M and two $10M options. I think they will start to concentrate on extending Rendon and Trea Turner if Harper doesn't sign. If not Rendon would be a mid 2019 trade chip as well. Mike Rizzo doesn't do a lot well, but payroll management has been better than you figure.

    I would call it more oddly loaded. Both Scherzer and Strasburg will make their max salaries next year (a Combined $75M) but then decrease starting in 2020. Adam Eaton is also set up as only $1.5M in 2020 after $8.4M in 2019.

    I don't even think the system needs a huge tweek. Get rid of the super 2 rules and give everyone 4 years of Arbitration.

    Not pitching is better than coming back in September. Now they can not offer him arbitration (although I'd have to think that means the end of their relationship)
