  2. He was standing on the plate until he got the ball and at that time actively hampered the runner's ability to get to the plate.
  3. WTF is this rule supposed to prevent? Navarro blocked the plate without the ball... There was a lane AFTER Navarro caught the ball. At that point he's allowed to block the plate.
  4. Melky seems to like it here. If the Jays are still in contention by July I could see him re-signing without testing the FA market.
  5. IIRC it took until May last year for us to enjoy a blow-out.
  6. I think there might be something there. It seems like a lot of guys with pop-up velocity end up getting hurt, as if their bodies weren't prepared for the velo spike.
  7. Yordano Ventura sure is fun to watch.
  8. Gibby's trying to win the game. I don't mind the move. Also, the pen has been getting plenty of rest, this isn't especially taxing.
  9. Oberholtzer is a pretty decent young pitcher. Throws strikes, gets whiffs. Could be a building block for the 'Stros.
  10. The reliever we got in the Happ trade, David Carpenter, was one of the best relievers in the NL last season lol. 1.78 ERA, 2.83 FIP in 65.2 IP.
  11. Looks like Porcello has finally pulled ahead for good
  12. I wouldn't say that, Brett Oberholtzer is pretty studly. Could go either way.
  13. You have to evaluate everything contextually. If MLBers league-wide produce more efficiently with men on base, it's useful to account for that when considering Bautista's productivity profile. Bautista's swRC+ (split wRC+) for bases empty would be 126/127, or 99.2.
  14. It feels like it because Jose hits a crazy number of dingers per PA. He probably has hit more solo shots than any player per PA over the past four seasons; that's what you're thinking of. But as JFaS notes, it's not disproportionate to his dingers with guys on base.
  15. Yeah he'd probably be Angrioter lol. Hungry for baseball but crap at playing it.
