  1. Twins baseball is fundamentals and pitch to contact. This is sloppiness and strikeouts!
  2. lol Twins. Is it just me or have the Jays not made any egregious defensive mistakes for the whole season?
  3. Mauer must've forgot it was a force play at home and though a tag was needed.
  4. Great job by Sierra. Does his dance, all the runners move up.
  5. I wasn't paying much attention and happened to glance over as the guy tripped on first. Instant knew it was Sierra lol
  6. C'mon now! Carter is decent-to-good at R, HR, RBI, OBP, SLG. So he doesn't run or get hits... lots of productive players don't. I got a couple decent offers for him this offseason. I'm not asking for an overpay either, just trying to clear a roster spot.
  7. Relative to his average lol. He's quite usable in an OBP league, unlike in a BA league.
  8. I need to clear a roster spot. With Kemp looking healthy and EY stealing bags left and right, Chris Carter is available. Reliable 25+ homer bat with a good OBP. My holds guys also up for grabs. Send me a Proboards PM if interested. Mostly looking for prospects/picks upgrades, since they're easiest to transact with.
  9. It's hard to believe that it hasn't worked out for Sam "Best Stuff in the Organization" Dyson. That guy had everything going for him.
  10. Hopefully they keep playing him. It's hilarious.
  11. Just search for his name on Twitter. The hate is already as strong as it was last year with us.
  12. Yes, actually. I was disappointed at the time. Here's the thread from the trade (admittedly short): http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?nav=messages&webtag=ml-bluejays&tid=85818
  13. 7 billion people have been worth more WAR in 2014 than Izturis was in 2013.
  14. Don't feel bad. He's also the cockiest player in baseball. It's a closed system: there can only be 750 MLB players at any time. Whoever takes JP's place when he gets sent down/cut will be more deserving. And that's something to feel good about.
  15. That's the right call. Good job umps. Also, lol @ JP. He's leaving quite the first impression on his new team.
  16. Just a general note on defensive stats. The -3 DRS and -0.4 UZR recorded so far have happened. Abstract stuff goes into it, but they do take real inputs and describe things that have occurred on the field. Brett has cost the team three runs compared to the average third baseman given the oppurtunities he's received by DRS, and 0.4 runs by UZR. It's exactly like how he's posted a -5.0 wRAA on offense. Neither that nor his defensive stats reflect his talent, but both are credible numbers that reflect what has happened in the first 9% of this season. Both offensive and defensive performance is subject to great variance, and over a large sample it balances out. I hate it when people say "defensive stats cannot be trusted in small samples." Neither can anything other than Ks and BBs for pitchers, really. And those still take some time to balance out.
  17. Jordan Lyles blowing away the Padres. My goodness.
  18. Luis Avilan gives up five runs in an inning... gets the win! That guy just knows how to win.
  19. If you voluntarily and intentionally drop the ball, you are voluntarily and intentionally releasing it. If the ball squirts out of your glove as you try to transfer it to your hand, you are not intentionally releasing it. You've made an involuntary error and have not succeeded in releasing it with intention.
  20. Jordan Lyles is pitching for the Rockies tonight at Petco.
  21. ZiPS ROS has Wagner at a 4.00 FIP, 0.2 WAR. That's pretty indistinguishable from a replacement reliever.
  22. Once he stops hitting dingers. He's leading the AL in them at the moment so there's no beef.
  23. It's only been a rule for 150 years...
  24. Nice to see they're finally calling the transfer as part of the catch. It is. I assume the umps can use the intentional drop rule (which is part of the infield fly rules) to legislate against this exploitation. Edit: This is part of the rule: "the fielder shall hold the ball long enough to prove that he has complete control of the ball and his release of the ball is voluntary and intentional." If you intentionally and voluntarily drop the ball, it's a catch. If the umpires are paying attention, this clarification by MLB will not be an issue.
