  1. there has got to be a catcher who can catch the knuckle ball and not be a complete wet blanket offensively???

I'm not saying on every play. Just on turnovers. on out of bounds plays the D is already back so you can take your time. when you turn it over you need to get out and run to take one of the few true advantages there are in the game.
  4. hope you weren't drinking any single malt. that would be alcohol abuse
  5. ok... with all the crazy trades being suggested, who are the untouchable players in the Jays organization?
  6. that's kind of like picking a player who has had a good offensive year for golden glove or giving the incumbent more weight just because he won last year. it's a neanderthal way of thinking that MLB is rife with.
  7. thanks guys. interesting discussion.

that would make your team really easy to defend. kind of like a starter in baseball throwing two pitches. You'd have to be perfect with both because if you are not the other team can look for 1 shot. Estrada is a great example, he throws mostly fastball and change, but he throws in a curve just enough to make hitter respect it. GS could almost use the offense you talk about but even that is hard if you don't mix in a step back jumper, post play or dunk now and then. I'd say a basket ball thing would be to never walk the ball up the floor after a defensive stop. why wait for the defense to settle when you can push and possibly get a shot before they set up. 5 on 5 is the hardest offense to run. You can always back up and run a set play if there is not quick shot on, but never let them get set if you don't have to.

that depends on field position, how good/bad your defense is, how good your kicker is, has your offensive line shown that they can get a push. theoretically if you have a good running back and a line that can push open gaps you could run the ball all day. only need 2.5 yards avg and you are golden, but it doesn't work that way yes, there are times where taking 4 downs to get a first down is a good idea, but punting is not the worst decision.
  10. what would it cost to sign him?
  11. I wasn't saying it was a good idea, just trying to see what options there are.... that's why I asked and didn't make a statement.
  12. are there any options out there that they could trade for with a mild hit to our depth to get someone else? we really don't have a catcher coming up and I REALLY hate the idea of Martin catching RA
  13. Can A.J. Jimenez catch a knuckle ball all winter and be our back up next year?

when the D takes it's first step back to collapse in front of him he needs to dish, but he runs until he chests up with the D and then there is no pass and he has to take a s***** shot.

GS do that to every team lol great games to watch as long as you're not a fan of their opponent.

man I'm getting tired. lol meant leafs not raps. thinking about one and watching the other. the Leafs system is working well defensively. They are not giving up many goals and not as many stupid blue line plays this year. They are in games and have had almost no offense and berns sucks between the pipes. only goal today came on a break down from a defensive zone play, but it was one of the few really bad mistakes in the game and unfortunately it cost them a goal, but they had this one from start to finish.

Raps had too many give aways. JV handed the ball away on in bounds plays for assists to the wrong team a few times. can't make those mental mistakes against a team that just puts up tons of points.

Leafs are getting better and they look like they could beat a lot of teams. Avs beat the s*** out of the habs and the raps handed the avs their ass in a bag.

they are amazing. it's the one of the teams that I really like watching as long as they are not playing the raps. lol this is getting ugly

you can put this one in the loss column. Raps are standing around looking down into their hands wondering what just happened because they are getting their ass handed to them.

yeap... I know. I don't mind if they lose, but it hurt last year watching them play like Fking idiots. they couldn't even make clean line changes. it was like watching 10 years olds, actually no, 10 years know better. I'm not sure if they can play bad enough to get a lottery pick.

last year just broke me as a Leafs fan. It just got to a point where it was too painful to watch. I'm still watching this year but they have to prove they can play good hockey. The last few games have been better. have to see if they keep it up.
