Well they're all probably valuable enough to justify giving up the assets. And at some point they will be, but all of them except Bailey will probably only be in line for a payday after our payroll comes down.

Yeah, our oldest regular was Cliff Johnson, 35 or something, and our best reliever was Roy Lee Jackson, who managed all of .6 fWAR in 92 innings.

Or you trade for Bailey/Lynn/Sale/Chacin/Quintana/Leake instead of Garza cause Garza's pretty overrated and it'd knock off quite a bit of $$$ from that total.

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/fangraphs-crowd-the-top-47-free-agents/ Fangraphs takes a shot at crowdsourcing the top free agents, which excluded Jhonny Peralta for whatever reason. These are probably decent reference points to use when thinking about if we can afford to sign any of these guys. They were pretty accurate last year IIRC.

Yeah, the Rangers are so gonna go after Cano with Profar, Kinsler, Andrus and Beltre in the infield. Ugh Heyman. Actually reading the article, I enjoyed how he lists the 10 teams who he thinks could go after him, and then argues against them.

Yeah, that was an "I-have-s***-to-do-so-I'll-throw-up-a-rough-projection" kind of thing. Iannetta would probably be worth about 1.5 WAR/400 with framing. Conger, 2.2 wins or so. Ramos, 4 wins on the dot (rounded). Those seem about right.

Ah, my mistake. Sorry, I usually use 600. But those numbers are high regardless, a healthy season from those guys may be a bit unrealistic regardless.

I have a hard time believing that a generally positive defender goes from ~2 defensive runs to -11. I think he'll rebound in the field.

I wonder if Lawrie 3B Goins SS Izturis 2B Reyes DH on Porcello starts might be better not only for Porcello's GB rate but it'd also give Reyes a little rest every once in a while.

Ianetta: -1.3 framing WAR/10000 + Steamer/600 = ~2.5 WAR with framing included Conger: -0.001 framing WAR/10000 + Steamer/600 = ~3.2 WAR with framing included Ramos: 1.8 framing WAR/10000 + Steamer/600 = ~5.6 WAR with framing included Basically projecting full seasons from all these guys based on Fast's spreadsheet and Steamer. All pretty decent options. And Ramos is a bit more than decent lol. But obviously health is an issue with him.

This would be nice. I'd probably ask for one of their catchers, though. I don't think Mesoraco is particularly valuable anyways so doesn't matter a whole ton. Latos and Phillips would be like a 3 win upgrade over Bautista (4.5 and 2.5 versus 4 off the top of my head).
