He'll space out defenders, stopping them from cheating on someone who can't shoot to cut off Demar on his way to the rim. Maybe it'll make Demar look just good enough to trade him. If he walks for nothing I'm good with that. I don't actually think he has much value. Even a GM who looks at FG% knows he's not very good. There might be 3-4 teams who don't look at FG%.
