Masterbather Verified Member Posted August 23, 2025 Posted August 23, 2025 The bullpen is a giant concern and weakness for this team. The deadline didn't really change that. We'll need a couple of guys in there to just suddenly get hot in time for the playoffs unless Yesavage comes out of the blue. Spanky__99 1

Varland has not been for multiple outings now. If he has options,,, what is the problem? He can sort himself out by sept 1.
Doubleplay21 Verified Member Posted August 23, 2025 Posted August 23, 2025 Varland seems like a fastball only pitcher and batters waiting for his hittable offspeed abola2121 1

Varsho not throwing to 2nd with a 4 run lead, isn't anything I'd normally expect, damn. Varsho as hard as we all want to admit, was a dingleberry, and cost us a run.
neverbeenhere Verified Member Posted August 23, 2025 Posted August 23, 2025 Fisher was struggling, pitched 1 inning, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits with one strikeout, last was one of the reasons to send him down

He can't come out of the pen with runners on and start throwing junk as mentioned by Gruber. s***** teams like the Marlins love that approach because they can't catch up to triple digits.

This is an appropriate time in his career where he rotates down when he scuffles. He's not a vet. He has options. If you can send fluharty down or fisher down, you can absolutely send Varland down. I'm not sure how people got gaslit into thinking we traded for aroldis chapman or some elite guy.
