bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 The pen is very bad. Extra playoff spots means teams probably holding on their relievers for longer. /Shrug.
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 Must be a nice feeling to have a shutdown guy in the pen like that.
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 One officer in critical condition, they are still looking for a 3rd. suspect Thought they ruled out a 3rd? No?
Governator Community Moderator Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 Stud can pitch. Once upon a time, in a land far far away.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 Don’t worry bros, Sergio Romo will stabilize this pen. There's a certain person that lurks these waters that feels there should be statue erected in front of the RC of Ross Atkins.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 Why is everyone bitching about Thornton he's incrementally worse or better than every single other arm in the pen except Romano and mayza. Our pen is trash. Wait a month hopefully we can pick up an arm and Pearson or Merryweather come alive.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 Must be a nice feeling to have a shutdown guy in the pen like that. Watching other pens makes me jealous
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 Lol, okay Mr.Hindsight. You must have not watched the jays long enough to think using Thorton in a high leverage situation was a good idea. Better off letting Stripling go deeper if you knew you had to rely on this scrub.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 Must be a nice feeling to have a shutdown guy in the pen like that. They called him up from the minors... must be nice to actually develop bullpen arms down there. No clue wtf they're doing down there.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 Can we please stop with the walks unlikely
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 Thirtons can't be used in anything less than a 7 run lead
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 Pearson. Funny guy u are. there is literally no one else in the pipeline, so you better start being a funny guy too.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 No matter what happens, right call to remove Stripling. He suffers a lot third time through. And it's good hitters... Sometimes when you have a starter dealing, if you could squeeze an extra inning out of him (especially after only FIVE innings), and especially considering the Blue Jays bullpen, wouldn't have been a bad idea. I understand in the Postseason or if the Jays were deep with solid bullpen arms that you could rely on to give you 4 innings to close out a game, though that isn't the case. It wouldn't have been the end of the world sending Stripling out in the 6th inning at only 81 pitches and keep him on a short leash. If he was closer to 100 pitches and had a lot of high stress situations, different story. Also, Stripling in June has posted a 1.16 ERA in his 5 starts. It's not like he's been awful or anything.

I repeat, you let Stripling go longer if you know you have to rely on Thorton. Our management pulls our starters like we have an elite bullpen. You need to manage based on what you have... not what you'd like to have...
Governator Community Moderator Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 I wonder how often Montoyo's hoodie gets washed
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 If the jays get a wild card spot with this crap pen it will be a miracle

Better off letting Stripling go deeper if you knew you had to rely on this scrub. They used Cimber to get through the top of the order, right move, Thornton didn't execute, it's that simple.

And if they left Stripling in, and he got shelled, you would he bitching about how they should have gone to the pen.. you do you.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 He's been fairly decent this year save for a few hiccups. IDK. Hes been decent when there's no pressure and we're losing. He has not been used in high leverage situations for a reason... he's utter trash.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2022 Author Posted June 29, 2022 Pearson should be put under a glass case marked "Fragile, for display purposes only." When I heard he went down with a lat strain today I wasn't surprised in the least.
