Cleveland Steamer Verified Member Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Yeah, his loss of form has cost us in more ways than one. He was great until June, then fell off a cliff. Injury / his back playing up? Zaun says the league has figured him out.
Cleveland Steamer Verified Member Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Safe to say Estrada won't be back next year? Yes.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 6 straight fastballs after the Gibby mound visit
baubau Verified Member Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Safe to say Estrada won't be back next year? Depends on the contract. Maybe he becomes Saunders 2.0. Signs a large contract, gets DFA'd and then comes back on a minor league deal.
UKJayOwls75 Verified Member Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Estrada's body language was really poor from the 1st pitch of the inning
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 6 straight fastballs after the Gibby mound visit It definitely appears hitters are sitting on his soft stuff as evident by so many late fouls on his fastball. It's crazy how coming into today 19 of his seasons 39 walks came in his last 4 starts. Really night and day with the command
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Top of the first.....we're buyers. Bottom of the first.....we're sellers. Welcome to the 2017 season.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Depends on the contract. Maybe he becomes Saunders 2.0. Signs a large contract, gets DFA'd and then comes back on a minor league deal. Doubtful he gets anything for more than 4 or 5 million plus incentives. It's really unfortunate that all our trade assets have got hurt or s*** the bed this year. We aren't going to get anything back for Liriano and Estrada. And since Joe Smith has been hurt a month we will get a nothing prospect for him despite how well hes pitched. This really is the worst season ever.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 What can we even realistically sell? Happ and Donaldson but apparently they refuse to trade them.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 What can we even realistically sell? Happ, Bautista, Pillar, Smith, Smoak, Morales, etc
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Yeah Estrada, Liriano and Bautista is getting you nothing of value if they continue to perform like this. Maybe you get someone to eat half their remaining contract for the season but that's about it. If Smith comes back healthy I think he should get something decent.

We should be paying as much as possible to maximise the return, but realistically it's still not going to help much. If Smith comes back healthy I think he should get something decent. Depends what you mean by decent. We're not getting a top 100 prospect for a rental reliever coming back from injury.
UKJayOwls75 Verified Member Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 You're going to need a lot of beer for this game. Good call. Hopefully won't be needed but watching the Jays this season more might be required

They were brutal after the World Series high.
