GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Yeah I feel bad for him. I enjoy OH's pain but he doesn't seem like a s***** guy in any way shape or form. If he gets fired I hope he does find work somewhere else where we can endlessly criticize him lol
SweetSmellingChacin Verified Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 This never would have happened if this guy was the manager http://img.bleacherreport.net/img/slides/photos/003/706/989/162e411f03dc96b52dfee7035d0e95f4_crop_north.jpg?w=630&h=420&q=75
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 I thought people here hated Buck Showalter because he's always scowling or whining about something. He was calm in that press conference because he knew he f***ed up and didn't want to bring anymore attention on himself. That was probably the most difficult thing he had to do. Check his ego at the door.
baloojayz Verified Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 You know Buck outcoached Gibby right? Basically we were both in the 11th, Had our long men in Ubaldo for them, Liriano for us. Buck didn't burn his closer, we not only burned ours, he came out of the game (possibly injured). If they scored, it was pretty much game over with Britton coming in. AND Buck pulled Tillman an inning earlier than Stroman, so the fact that he still had Britton available is even more amazing. We just got lucky, people are being stupid as usual.
Muck Bartinez Verified Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Won't get canned obviously, but the call and rationale were beyond stupid. You have literally the best pitcher in the world at getting a small quantity outs. A situation arises where you need a small quantity of outs, and you choose not to use him. When we were watching last night, we made the comparison to jumping out of a plane, but choosing not to use your parachute because you don't have a backup chute.

Guy on first, a batter later he's on 3rd, how could Britton possibly have had time to warmup?
baloojayz Verified Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Also Duensing started the inning. Ubaldo was brought in, if he started the inning, maybe you expect Britton to be up.
ChrisS Verified Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Guy on first, a batter later he's on 3rd, how could Britton possibly have had time to warmup? You think thats why Britton wasnt used? They could have easily figured out a way to stall and bring him in. He should have been warming up regardless. I would have walked EE but not intentionally, give him 4 trash pitches and each time the catcher comes out to talk. They would have needed a ground ball to get out of the jam. Britton is the most dominant pitcher in the world and his GB rate is unheard of. Facing a team which doesnt have alot of speed and is prone to hit into the DP, Buck should have walked EE and brought in Britton period.
polar bear Verified Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 As long as they send Tabby packing too Never had much time for Tabby either, but I thought he came across really well last night in the panel, sans Bucky.
Waylanderz Verified Member Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Guy on first, a batter later he's on 3rd, how could Britton possibly have had time to warmup? He was up 3 times in the game. 3 times he didn't get called on. He was more than ready.
