Just for a little humour this is the place to talk about Mike Wilner's "implosion" era blue jays talk...

 

Question got brought up in game day thread, and just cuz Mike is the press secratory basically I think he deserves his own thread.

Caller - Mike would you trade Donaldson in the offseason assuming the Blue Jays don't make the playoffs.

 

Mike -- (long pause)... (condescending long pause)

 

Mike -- "assume??" it's a little early to assume anything, the Jays are 1.5 up on the second wild card.

 

Caller - I know Mike, but I just don't see things working out.. with the west coast trip then A.L. East contenders the rest of the way. So would you trade Donaldson.

 

Mike -- (long pause)... No. No. I would not. That's all next caller.

caller - "Mike would you fire Gibbons if the Jays don't make the playoffs"

 

Mike - (long pause)... (really long pause)... it's a little early to think about that. Especially when we're 1.5 games up on a playoff spot.

 

Mike - And no. I would not fire John Gibbons.

 

(long pause)

 

Mike - Shapiro didn't hire Gibbons... so you never know... but fire John Gibbons?? The only manager who has gotten the Jays to the playoffs in the last 20 years??

 

(long pause)

 

Mike - John Gibbons?? A guy who is currently 1.5 up on the second wild card??

caller - Mike.. seeing what the Yankees have done with young players do you think the Jays should of sold at the deadline.

 

Mike (long pause, extra long pause, deep breath) - Who would you sell?? Bautista, EE and Tulo can't be traded without their permision.
